This week's NFL TV game predictions

New England Patriots v Jacksonville Jaguars predictions

The NFL heads to London for the third straight week as the New England Patriots take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Schedulers have been unlucky with this fixture, with both teams having picked up just one win each in the first six weeks.

New England are still rebuilding their team with a new coach and a rookie quarterback so expectations going into the campaign were low. The same cannot be said for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who finished second in the AFC South last season and were tipped to challenge for the division this year.

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence has had a poor start to the season, while running back Travis Etienne Jr has yet to prove he deserves to be the regular starter. Doug Pederson's team are ranked 22nd in points per game, and their only win came against the Indianapolis Colts, who were missing quarterback Anthony Richardson and running back Jonathan Taylor on that occasion.

While the Patriots have lost five games on the spin, they handed rookie quarterback Drake Maye his first start last week and he looked an upgrade on Jacoby Brissett. Maye completed 20 of his 30 passes for 243 yards and three touchdowns and he has nothing to lose when he and the Patriots travel to London.

If New England running back Rhamondre Stevenson can prove his fitness and contribute to the offence, the Patriots can stay competitive at Wembley.

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings predictions

The game of the weekend takes place at the US Bank Stadium in Minnesota as the Vikings play host to the Detroit Lions.

The Vikings are one of just two unbeaten teams in the first six weeks but they are under pressure as they welcome NFC North rivals Detroit to town.

The early stats and performances suggest that Minnesota's defence is the better of the two thanks to the brilliant work of co-ordinator Brian Flores, and he is likely to dial up some plays to trouble Lions quarterback Jared Goff.

However, Goff and the Lions offensive line have been clinical all season and he will relish the challenge on the road on Sunday.

Goff can choose from Amon-Ra St Brown, Jameson Williams and Sam LaPorta as his main passing options, while Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery have proved they can share the workload to devastating effect on the ground.

Minnesota were expected to struggle due to their difficult schedule and uncertainty at quarterback, but Sam Darnold has coped with the pressure. However, in his final appearance before the bye, he made several mistakes against the New York Jets.

Aidan Hutchinson's season-ending injury certainly gives Darnold more time to make a pass, but the Lions should not be the underdogs in this game, especially considering they reached the NFC Championship game last season.

Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers predictions

The Chiefs will look to extend their unbeaten run to six matches when they travel to the west coast to take on the San Francisco 49ers.

Andy Reid's team have not been at their best yet but the defending Super Bowl champions have still done enough to pick up wins each week.

Patrick Mahomes and his team-mates have already beaten the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons, and they have also had a week to rest and prepare, having had a bye in Week Six.While Isiah Pacheco and Rashee Rice are still sidelined, the Chiefs managed to get the best out of Travis Kelce in their 26-13 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week Five, with Kelce finishing with 70 receiving yards from nine receptions.

Like the Chiefs, the 49ers have had some tough injuries to deal with but they are 3-3, suggesting the Chiefs are in a great spot ahead of kick-off.

San Francisco have yet to beat anyone with a winning record, and they will not be at their best until Christian McCaffrey returns from injury. Back-up running back Jordan Mason is questionable for Sunday's encounter so the Chiefs have things stacked in their favour and look good value for the win.

New York Jets at Pittsburgh Steelers predictions

The headlines around the NFL have focused on new faces due to play for both teams in this clash.

Both teams have struggled on offence in the first six weeks and they rank 20th or worse in points and yards per game. Their reliable defences have bailed them out and that looks unlikely to change in Pittsburgh.

The Jets' decision to sack Robert Saleh has yet to pay off after they missed two field goals before losing 23-20 to the Buffalo Bills on Monday.

The Jets improved their offence on home soil in Week Six but still made sloppy errors, which is why they traded for Davante Adams in midweek. Adams will now link up with his former Green Bay Packers team-mate Aaron Rodgers and the Jets will hope for an immediate improvement on offence.

Pittsburgh's offence also needs to improve, and coach Mike Tomlin has hinted he will start Russell Wilson, who has yet to play for his new team since suffering an injury in pre-season. Justin Fields will drop to the bench, but the Steelers' run defence could be what guides them to victory.

The Jets have struggled on the ground all season and there's no guarantee that Adams and Rodgers will click into gear in their first game together for several years.

Jeff Ulbrich's team have had a short turnaround and Pittsburgh have the defence and home advantage to cover the handicap at the very least.

Tom Hill's Week Six best bets

Best money line bet

Atlanta Falcons
2pts 4-6 Betfair

The Falcons sit top of the NFC South with a 4-2 record and they go into the game against the Seattle Seahawks on a run of three consecutive wins. They have scored 36 points in two successive matches, while the Seahawks have lost three in a row.

Seattle's inability to keep teams at bay looks set to cost them again and Atlanta can click into gear on offence.

Best handicap bet

Cincinnati Bengals -5.5
2pts 10-11 general

The Bengals have won two of their last three to improve their record to 2-4, but three of their defeats have been by five points or fewer.

They face AFC North rivals the Cleveland Browns this week, and the Browns are in big trouble.

Cleveland's offence is struggling due to the form of quarterback Deshaun Watson, and they would drop him if they did not owe him so much money.

The Bengals should cover the handicap, especially with QB Joe Burrow in fine form this season.

Best points bet

Under 43.5 points in Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts
2pts 10-11 general

The Miami Dolphins are likely to be thinking about next season after losing quarterback Tua Tagovailoa for several weeks with concussion.

Mike McDaniel's team have scored a measly 60 points this season but they have stayed competitive thanks to their elite defence.

Sunday's opponents the Indianapolis Colts are 3-3 and have not been that impressive on offence so this could end up being a close-fought affair.

Best prop bet

Kyren Williams over 91.5 rushing yards
2pts10-11 bet365

Los Angeles Rams running back Williams has been in fine form, picking up no fewer than 89 rushing yards in his last three outings.

The Rams lean on him heavily and he has had a minimum of 19 touches in three weeks.

He faces the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday and they have struggled against the run all season.

The Raiders have conceded 842 rushing yards this season, the ninth-worst total in the league, and they allow running backs five yards per carry on average.

That should suit Williams down to the ground, and he gets that many touches that he looks good value to cover a 91.5-yard line.
