This week's NFL TV game predictions

Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers predictions

There's a cracking game in prospect in the NFC North this weekend as the Minnesota Vikings face the Green Bay Packers on the road. While it is still early days, the outcome of this game could go a long way to determining the NFC playoff picture in January.

The Vikings have been one of the surprise packages this season, with former New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold in fine form. Darnold was expected to compete for a starting job with rookie JJ McCarthy, but a season-ending injury gave Darnold a chance to shine, and he has taken it with both hands.

While much of the spotlight has shone on Darnold, their defence has played lights-out football, keeping the San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans quiet in recent matches.

However, Green Bay will welcome back quarterback Jordan Love from injury. Love's return should give Green Bay a huge lift, especially given that he threw for more than 250 yards and three touchdowns in his last game against the Vikings. Green Bay's defence have also quietly gone about their business, recording eight sacks against the Tennessee Titans last week in their 30-14 win.

The Packers defence will expect to unsettle Darnold, and history shows he may crumble under the pressure.

Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers predictions

The Kansas City Chiefs go into Sunday's tie with a 3-0 record, but that may be masking some of their issues.

Ultimately, the Chiefs won a Super Bowl last year with a mediocre offence, and any team that wins ugly is one to worry about.

The Chiefs have continued to find a way under Andy Reid, but they have scored only 75 points in three weeks and conceded 62. The Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Atlanta Falcons all came incredibly close to beating the Chiefs, so they are vulnerable.

Sunday's opponents the LA Chargers are 2-1 thanks to their improved defence under coach Jim Harbaugh and they may be able to push the Chiefs all the way. The Chargers have beaten only the Raiders and Carolina Panthers but two wins under a new coach is always a good sign.

Kansas City have won the last eight of the previous ten meetings between the teams but the Chargers defence may have enough quality to keep this game tight.

Harbaugh was hired to try to stop the Chiefs' dominance in the AFC West and if his team can keep wide receiver Rashee Rice quiet, they have a great chance of staying within the handicap.

Buffalo Bills at Baltimore Ravens predictions

Two potential playoff contenders meet at the M&T Bank Stadium in Week Four and this game could be the pick of the bunch this weekend.

The Baltimore Ravens ended their wait for their first win in Week Three as they beat the Dallas Cowboys 28-25. While the scoreline suggests the game was close, the Ravens racked up more than 450 yards on offence and really took the game to the hosts at the AT&T Stadium.

Baltimore are 1-2 for the year after early defeats to the Chiefs and Raiders, and while their run defence has been stellar, they have yet to play teams that excel in that area.

Against the pass, the Ravens have one of the worst-performing units in the NFL, which should bring the best out of Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

The Bills are 3-0 after a blistering start and it is a surprise to see them as underdogs considering their recent performances. Sean McDermott's team have racked up 112 points in three weeks, the highest in the NFL, while their defence have allowed only 4.2 yards per play, the second-best in the league.

Buffalo will relish the challenge, and they should be able to win their third game against the Ravens in a row to continue their dominant start.

Tom Hill's Week Four best bets

Best money line bet

Pittsburgh Steelers
2pts 3-4 Betfair, Paddy Power

The Pittsburgh Steelers will head to the Indianapolis Colts this week hoping to protect their 3-0 record. Mike Tomlin's team have managed to get the best out of Justin Fields at quarterback, and his defence will expect to cause Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson some issues.

Pittsburgh's defence is one of the best in the NFL, so if they can shut the Colts' run game down, which is their biggest asset, this should be a comfortable victory for Tomlin's troops.

Best handicap bet

Cincinnati Bengals -4.5
1pt 10-11 general

The Bengals are still winless this season but because of that there is some value in backing them on the handicap this week.

They face the Carolina Panthers, who recorded their first win of the season last week thanks to veteran Andy Dalton. To their credit, Carolina won well, beating the Raiders 36-22, but the Bengals will pose a much tougher threat.

Even in a 38-33 defeat to the Washington Commanders, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow looked electric, throwing for 324 yards and three touchdowns. If Burrow replicates that form, expect him to guide the Bengals to their first win of the season and Carolina  to struggle against a quality outfit.

Best points bet

Under 41 points in New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons
1pt Evs Coral, Ladbrokes

After a rapid start, the New Orleans Saints' offence were held to 12 points in a 15-12 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles last weekend.

They will try to bounce back this week but they face a stubborn Atlanta Falcons defence. Both teams have injuries to their offensive lines and both operate run-heavy offences. With that in mind, the value should be on the unders in a game that neither team will want to lose.

Best prop bet

Breece Hall over 27.5 receiving yards
2pts 10-11 bet365

New York Jets running back Breece Hall has enjoyed a strong start to the season on the ground, racking up 170 yards and two touchdowns.

He is a dual-threat back, though, and has secured at least 29 receiving yards in each of his three games playing with Aaron Rodgers.

Opponents the Denver Broncos have lost linebacker Alex Singleton to injury for the year so Hall will come up against a weaker defence and should relish the man-to-man battles as a receiver.
