Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals predictions

On paper, it's slightly surprising that the 8-3 Pittsburgh Steelers are underdogs against the 4-7 Cincinnati Bengals in this pivotal AFC North clash.

However, the Steelers have been fortunate in a number of one-score games this season while Cincinnati are 1-6 in games which were decided by one possession, so it's been a case of fine margins for both teams.

Joe Burrow is certainly not at fault for the Bengals' late-game struggles, as the Cincinnati quarterback is having the best season of his career, throwing 27 touchdowns to just four interceptions. 

Burrow should see success against a Pittsburgh defence that has ranked in the bottom ten of the NFL in opponent EPA (expected points added) per rush and pressure rate over the past five weeks.

Despite the Steelers' strong reputation on defence, this is not the same unit that that has tormented opposing quarterbacks in recent years, which is good news for Burrow and star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. 

On the other side, Pittsburgh's offence ranks near the bottom of the league in both success rate and passing success rate since Week Seven, which just happens to be when Russell Wilson took over as the starting quarterback from Justin Fields. 

The press around Wilson has mostly been good, but he has not looked nearly as sharp over the last few weeks. 

This is a must-win contest for the Bengals, who can deliver the victory by more than a field goal.

Philadelphia Eagles at Baltimore Ravens predictions

After a slow start, the Philadelphia Eagles have completely turned their season around on both sides of the ball. 

Off a bye, they rattled off their seventh straight win in dominant fashion against the LA Rams last week, assuming total control of top spot in the NFC East in the process.

Philadelphia boast a top-ten offence in most advanced metrics, while the defence is firing on all cylinders, sitting behind only the Lions in points-per-drive-allowed during this impressive winning streak. 

While Baltimore have a strong record in this fixture under head coach John Harbaugh and Lamar Jackson, the Ravens have not been nearly as effective on offence when facing some of the NFL's better defences.

The Eagles are much more adept at containing explosive plays compared to the Ravens, who have struggled all season with slowing down opposing teams. 

That task won’t get easier against red-hot running back Saquon Barkley, who is at the peak of his powers, and Philadelphia's receiving corps should also be healthier for this one.

While Ravens QB Jackson is having arguably the best year of his career and running back Derrick Henry has proved an excellent addition, the Philadelphia defence looks strong enough to limit their scoring opportunities.

San Francisco 49ers at Buffalo Bills predictions

The banged-up San Francisco 49ers have lost two straight games and things could go from bad to worse when they head east to face the Buffalo Bills.

Niners Quarterback Brock Purdy missed last week's 38-10 hammering at Green Bay and his status is up in the air for Week 13, while star running back Christian McCaffrey has looked a long way short of his best since returning from injury, averaging just 3.5 yards per carry.

After their Lambeau Field humbling, the Niners must travel across the country to face the Bills in one of the NFL's toughest road trips.

Orchard Park will be rocking in support of a home team who are heading in the completely opposite direction to their opponents – the Bills have won six straight games by an average margin of 11.6 points and they’re 5-0 at home.

Quarterback Josh Allen has been playing at an MVP level in that six-game stretch, throwing ten touchdowns and just four interceptions while rushing for 156 yards and another three TDs. 

With question marks over Purdy's fitness, Brandon Allen may again be forced to step in for San Francisco. Either way, this looks a tough task for Kyle Shanahan's team, who could struggle to repel Buffalo.

All is not well for the Texans, who lost at home to the Titans last week and look vulnerable in the absence of star defensive back Jalen Pitre.

Atlanta's last four home games have all eclipsed a 47-point total and neither team has impressed on defence in recent weeks.
