This week's NFL TV game predictions

Detroit Lions at Indianapolis Colts predictions

The Detroit Lions will look to live up to the hype of being Super Bowl favourites when they visit the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday evening. Dan Campbell's team are now the ante-post favourites to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy after the Kansas City Chiefs lost to the Buffalo Bills last week, while the Lions moved to 9-1 thanks to their 52-6 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff threw for 412 yards and four touchdowns against the Jaguars. Amon-Ra St. Brown, David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs all scored touchdowns against Jacksonville, all three scoring in the same game for the eighth time in their careers, and Campbell's team continue to threaten from all areas.

While the Colts beat the New York Jets 28-27 last week, this week's challenge is the exact opposite of what they faced last week. Indianapolis surrendered a 13-0 lead at one point to nearly lose to the hapless Jets, so the Lions should have no problem recording a victory.

The Colts rank 26th in the NFL against the pass and 25th in opponents' yards per pass attempt. With Goff and his dynamic offence in town, this should be a routine win for the NFC North leaders.

San Francisco 49ers at Green Bay Packers predictions

The San Francisco 49ers will look to return to winning ways when they travel to Green Bay to face the Packers on Sunday. Kyle Shanahan's team returned from their bye in Week Ten and beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20, but they were brought back down to earth with a 20-17 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 11.

That defeat leaves the 49ers at the bottom of the NFC West, and time is running out for them to get their act together and make the playoffs. Quarterback Brock Purdy failed to impress against the Seahawks, throwing for just 159 yards, and he now faces a Packers secondary that is giving up only 207.5 passing yards per game.

The Packers improved their record to 7-3 last week with a 20-19 win over the Chicago Bears and they will be out for revenge after losing 23-20 to the 49ers in the divisional round last season.

This time the Packers will at least get to play in front of their own fans and that should make a huge difference. The 49ers are banged up ahead of this meeting, with Brandon Aiyuk out for the season, defensive lineman Nick Bosa and Purdy injured, while left tackle Trent Williams has a sore ankle and will need to pass a fitness test.

Tight end George Kittle should return but the Packers have won five of their last six and should win their fourth game at home this season.

Philadelphia Eagles at Los Angeles Rams predictions

Two NFC teams who harbour hopes of reaching the playoffs meet at the Sofi Stadium as the Los Angeles Rams host the Philadelphia Eagles.

After a slow start, the Eagles have racked up six successive wins since their bye in Week Five to move to the top of the NFC East thanks to their 8-2 record. Philadelphia can only beat what is in front of them but they have been fortunate with their schedule after beating the Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders.

The Cowboys were without Dak Prescott for that 34-6 defeat, while the Commanders struggled to perform as Jayden Daniels was not fully fit in their 18-26 defeat to the Eagles.

Apart from their win over the Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow, the Eagles have faced some out-of-form QBs in recent weeks but they have still got the job done. Their offence has ticked along nicely, with running back Saquon Barkley collecting 1,137 rushing yards this season.

The Rams will be no pushovers, though, with quarterback Matthew Stafford still performing to a high level. He has thrown for at least 279 yards in his last four starts and for eight touchdowns. With wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp both fully fit, the Rams should make a playoff run this season.

Philadelphia's rushing attack should be the difference in this game and the Eagles are averaging 200 yards per game in their last six outings.

The Eagles have a roster that can make a blockbuster play at any moment, so they look good value for the win on the road.

Tom Hill's Week 12 best bets

Best money line bet

Seattle Seahawks
1pt 10-11 general

Seattle's match with NFC West rivals the Arizona Cardinals is a true 50-50 contest.

The Cardinals top the standings, but the Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17 on the road last week. Seattle have lost five times this season but they have only been outclassed twice and quarterback Geno Smith has looked comfortable throughout the season. Arizona's secondary has been exposed on occasions this season, so the Seahawks could throw another spanner in the works in the race for the NFC West title.

Best handicap bet

Houston Texans -7.5
3pts 10-11 general

The Houston Texans should improve their record to 8-4 with a routine win against the Titans.

Houston hammered the Dallas Cowboys 34-10 last week, with running back Joe Mixon scoring a hat-trick. Wide receiver Nico Collins is now back fit and firing after a hamstring injury but the Titans defence has allowed the fewest passing yards per game this season.

However, Tennessee have struggled to score points this season, scoring more than 20 in regular time on only one occasion this season.

That lack of attacking output will be their achilles heel against a resolute Texans defence.

Best points bet

Under 39.5 points in Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears
2pts10-11 general

A close battle in the NFC North is expected at Soldier Field this weekend. The Bears have lost four in a row, but they have not conceded more than 20 points at home this season.

The Vikings have already surpassed expectations, but they have not scored more than 23 points in four weeks, so this could be closer than some fans expect.

Best prop bet

Brian Robinson Jr. Over 71.5 rushing yards
2pts 10-11 bet365

The Cowboys allowed Houston running back Joe Mixon to run riot on the ground last week so expect Brian Robinson Jr. to try to find similar opportunities.

Dallas have conceded 151 yards per game on the ground to opposition rushers while Robinson Jr. has run for at least 60 yards in his last three games. He has seven touchdowns to his name this season and he should enjoy his afternoon against a Cowboys defence who have coughed up 29.3 points per game during this campaign.
