New York Jets at San Francisco 49ers predictions

Week One of the new NFL season concludes in California as the New York Jets attempts to right the wrongs of 2023 on their trip to NFC champions San Francisco 49ers.

Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers will make his highly anticipated return at Levi's Stadium, but unlike last year, the Jets have avoided the media spotlight ahead of the new campaign.

Robert Saleh's men were the subject of HBO's Hard Knocks 12 months ago after signing Rodgers, but that excitement soon ebbed away when the veteran QB sustained an Achilles injury after just four plays on his debut.

After again struggling to post points last term, the Jets added Tyron Smith, John Simpson and Morgan Moses to their offensive line, while the acquisition of free agent Mike Williams will give Rodgers another outlet.

The Jets' revamped offence should now complement their elite defensive unit, and if Rodgers can stay fit, they could prove to be a force.

While the Jets will feel they can hold their own in the ultra-competitive AFC, NFC champions San Francisco will look to carry on from where they left off.

Kyle Shanahan has lost a few defensive cogs but the 49ers look in good shape to forge another title tilt nonetheless.

However, what their Super Bowl defeat to Kansas City took out of them is an unknown and it may take the 49ers a few weeks to click into gear.

Brandon Aiyuk and Trent Williams only committed their futures to the franchise in the last few days and there is a chance San Francisco's offence may be slightly disjointed against arguably the best defence in the league.
