New York Giants at Pittsburgh Steelers predictions

The New York Giants are bottom of the NFC East with a 2-5 record and look set for another defeat when they visit Pittsburgh on Monday night.

The Giants played well enough in their Week Six loss to the Bengals, but lost left tackle Andrew Thomas with a season-ending foot injury. The importance of one of the best left tackles in the league was highlighted last week as quarterback Daniel Jones was sacked eight times in a 28-3 home defeat by the Eagles without Thomas protecting his blind side. 

Jones had little room to move around in the pocket and the Giants gained just 119 yards of total offence in the game, their worst effort for 25 years. To make matters worse, their former running back Saquon Barkley tore their defence apart, rushing for 176 yards. 

It is unlikely to get any easier on Monday night against another strong defence in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers switched quarterbacks last week with veteran Russell Wilson replacing Justin Fields and leading his new team to a 37-15 win. They gained 409 yards of total offence and their defence shut out Aaron Rodgers and the Jets in the second half. 

The Giants could struggle to score again, while the home offence looks more dangerous than it has for some time. The Steelers should be able to win by at least a touchdown.
