Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions predictions

Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions improved their impressive records with Thanksgiving Day wins and a week later they are set to clash in a mouth-watering NFC North matchup.

The Lions are the Super Bowl favourites after winning 11 of their 12 games, but the Packers are not far behind at 9-3.

Detroit won the teams' first meeting this season 24-14 in Week Nine, but that was Green Bay's only loss in their last eight games. A pick-six by the Lions' Kerby Joseph proved pivotal as the Packers outgained the Lions by 411 yards to 261 in defeat.

The Packers won 29-22 at Ford Field on Thanksgiving Day last year, when quarterback Jordan Love had 268 passing yards and three touchdowns. 

The Lions had to work harder than expected for a holiday success last week as they played unusually conservatively and settled for field goals early on against the Bears.

The visitors outscored them 20-7 in the second half and the Lions' injuries are mounting with offensive tackle Taylor Decker (knee) and defensive linemen Levi Onwuzurike (hamstring), Josh Paschal (knee) and DJ Reader (shoulder) all likely to miss this game, while defensive end Aidan Hutchinson and linebacker Alex Anzalone are longer-term absentees.

The Packers had a bye in Week Ten and have been at home for their last two games, so they should be fresh, and after comfortable wins over the 49ers (38-10) and Dolphins (30-17) over the last two weeks, they look capable of at least staying within a field goal of the Lions.
