Denver Broncos at New Orleans Saints predictions

All eyes will be on Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton as he returns to New Orleans on Thursday night to face the team he led to Super Bowl glory.

After the first two weeks of the season, the Saints were 2-0 and the Broncos 0-2, but Denver now arrive with a superior record at 3-3 while the Saints have slumped to four successive defeats.

The Broncos are also coming off a loss after having a three-game winning run snapped by a 23-16 defeat to AFC West rivals the Chargers, when a fourth-quarter revival was not enough after a terrible start. 

The Saints scored 91 points in the first two weeks, but Dennis Allen's roster has been hit by some key injuries to quarterback Derek Carr, tight end Taysom Hill and wide receiver Chris Olave.

They were crushed 51-27 by the Buccaneers on Sunday, and coming off a 78-point game, the total points over looks good at just 36.5 for this game.

The good news for the Saints in that game was that rookie QB Spencer Rattler looked pretty good in his first start replacing the injured Carr. Oddsmakers are expecting a low-scoring scrap between two struggling offences, but the value lies with the over. 

The New Orleans defence gave up 594 yards against Tampa Bay and rank last in the NFL in yards allowed per game at 395.8, while they are also in the bottom ten in most defensive stats.

Denver’s defence has been good, but the Chargers ran the ball down their throats on Sunday and the Saints’ above-average offensive line could have some success following that plan.
