Match preview

The AFC Championship game is a rematch of last year’s conference decider as the Cincinnati Bengals head to Arrowhead to take on the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Bengals rallied in the second half of last year’s meeting to secure victory and move on to the Super Bowl – and there is every chance that will happen again.

Cincinnati have already beaten Kansas City this season and Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is currently 3-0 in games against Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes, who comes into the match under an injury cloud.

If Burrow can beat a fully-fit Mahomes then he should be able to get the better of him when he's carrying a knock - Mahomes having hurt his ankle in last week's Divisional Round win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Bengals were big underdogs for last week’s playoff clash in Buffalo, but they were far too good for the Bills on both sides of the ball as they chalked up their tenth win in a row.

Chiefs QB Mahomes managed just 223 passing yards when these teams met earlier this season, and he could be a sitting duck in the pocket given his injury.

Cincinnati’s offence has been rolling through teams of late. Burrow has looked as good as ever while their run game is improving every week behind Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine.

A second Super Bowl appearance in a row looks a strong possibility for visitors.
