Buffalo Bills at New York Jets predictions

The New York Jets will be in the spotlight in Monday's NFL game after firing head coach Robert Saleh last Tuesday following their defeat to the Minnesota Vikings in London. 

Defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich has taken over as interim head coach and his first assignment is a home AFC East clash against the Buffalo Bills.

A quarterback showdown between Josh Allen of the Bills and Aaron Rodgers of the Jets would usually be one to savour but defences could be on top in this contest.

The Jets have lost against the strong defences of the Broncos and Vikings in their last two matches, managing only 502 yards of offence and 26 points in total. 

At 2-3, they don’t inspire much confidence, but the true battle in this game will be when the Bills (3-2) have the ball. Allen is coming off one of the worst games of his career, having completed only nine of his 30 pass attempts for 131 yards in Houston, and he was controversially allowed to return to the game after taking a blow to the head.

The best bet on the game could be a low points total as neither offence can be trusted. The Jets rank in the bottom third in nearly every offensive category and have not been able to run the ball well despite having two talented running backs in Bryce Hall and Braelon Allen. 

The Bills' offence was red-hot in the first three weeks but they are averaging just 182 passing yards per game and their air attack is inconsistent. Running back James Cook hopes to defy a toe injury to play but is not likely to be in peak form, while wide receiver Khalil Shakir is also questionable after missing last week's game against the Texans with an ankle issue.
