Rain may be the major danger to Marquez
Czech Grand Prix
BT Sport 2, 1pm Sunday
Rain could spice things up in the Czech Grand Prix but an interesting content looks in store whatever the weather.
Marc Marquez took pole in Brno, pipping Valentino Rossi and his Honda teammate Dani Pedrosa.
Pedrosa rewarded each-way backers in qualifying and looks the safer bet for the race, too.
In a dry race, Marquez would be fancied to dominate, but he looks too short with rain forecast.
Wet conditions would not bother Pedrosa, who won with the rain tyres on in France in 2013 and Japan in 2015 and has shown mastery in mixed conditions in Germany and Jerez this year.
Friday’s first practice was wet and Marquez was second, but he has traditionally not been at his brilliant best on slippery circuits.
Britain’s Cal Crutchlow would be fancied to challenge for the podium in changeable conditions after a fine ride for fifth on the grid, but there is a doubt over his fitness.
He defied doctors to take part in qualifying after hurting his back in a morning crash.
With doubts over what shape Crutchlow will be in for the race, a better each-way bet could be one of the Tech 3 riders, Johann Zarco and Jonas Folger.
Their practice pace suggested they should be higher than tenth and 14th on the grid, but both go well in the wet and Folger won a wet Moto 2 race at the track last year.
