Italian Grand Prix qualifying predictions

There's a wide-open market for Italian Grand Prix qualifying after a pretty uninformative practice day.

Championship rivals Lando Norris and Max Verstappen head the betting, but Lewis Hamilton was in the hot seat on Friday in more ways than one.

The Mercedes ace pipped Norris to the fastest time of the day by just 0.003 seconds, but complained of an overheating seat.

Hamilton's teammate George Russell, whose car was crashed by junior driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the first session, suffered the same issue.

On Monza's long straights, slipstreaming and tactics often lead to the fastest lap times, meaning there's more to taking pole position than just driving a clean lap.

The top five in second practice were covered by 0.154 seconds, and in an open-looking battle, the value could lie with a bet on the qualifying winning margin to be between 0.1 and 0.2 seconds.
