Andrew Le Page & Tasha Ghouri to win without Davide & Ekin-Su

What's happening?

ITV2's eight-week extravaganza of bombshells, re-couplings, dumpings and explosive rows is about to draw to a close with the final of Love Island 2022 taking place at 9pm tonight.

Series eight has thrown up some memorable moments from Turkish actress Ekin-Su Culculoglu playing tonsil-tennis with Jay Younger in that iconic terrace scene to Andrew Le Page trying to worm his way out of having shared a fair few intimate moments with Casa Amour girl Coco Lodge - you know what bit I'm referring to.

But after Paige Thorne and Adam Collard departed the villa in Sunday night's episode, there are only four couples left to battle it out for the £50,000 prize.

Betting latest

The aforementioned terrace antics of Ekin-Su feel like a long time ago now and she and Italian stallion Davide Sanclimenti are unsurpisingly 1-7 favourites to win Love Island 2022.

Anyone watching this year's series can see they have the most genuine connection of the lot, even if that has spilled out into explosive rows from time to time, and they would be worthy winners.

A quick scroll on Twitter shows how popular they are with many calling for the business owner and actress to have their own food-themed show travelling around Italy, akin to Gordon, Gino and Fred's Road Trip. Now that would be worth watching.

Andrew and Tasha Ghouri - the only couple who have been together from day one - are next in the betting at 7-1 with Luca Bish and Gemma Owen - once red-hot favourites - now 8-1.

Expected to place fourth in the final, Dami Hope and Indiyah Polack can be backed at 16-1 to come out on top.

What might happen next?

There will be outrage on the Twittersphere if Davide and Ekin-Su do not take home the prize and, although I am still not entirely convinced the volatile pair will share the money if they win, it's tough to see past them winning the public vote.

Indeed, the better betting heat is in the 'without Davide and Ekin-Su' market in which Andrew and Tasha and Luca and Gemma are both even money with Paddy Power.

At one stage - again, you know what bit I'm referring to if you've been watching - I would have said Andrew and Tasha have no chance.

But the pair have strengthened significantly since the Case Amour drama and a second-placed finish would be a fitting end to their Love Island journey.

The fact Tasha reportedly pledged to donate her share of the prize money to a charity for deaf children at the start of the series should also stand her in good stead.

As for Luca and Gemma, Luca's tendency to over-react and occasional possessive behaviour towards Gemma seems to have put a lot of people off the couple and they may have to settle for third spot, even if it is clear there is something between them.
