Hurricanes v Scorchers Preview

Perth Scorchers made a perfect start to their Big Bash League title defence, sweeping aside Sydney Sixers by 38 runs, and they look overpriced to get the better of Hobart Hurricanes.

The Scorchers enjoyed a superb regular season on their way to the title last campaign, winning 11 of 14 matches before the playoffs.

They went on to land a 79-run win in the final against the Sixers, skittling their opponents for only 92. And it was arguably their bowling attack which put them above the rest last season with Andrew Tye, Ashton Agar and Jason Behrendorff taking a combined total of 59 wickets.

All three of those players featured in their season opener as did Jhye Richardson, who finished with figures of 4-9.

The loss of Laurie Evans at the crease is not ideal but Perth have the added quality with the ball to get on top of Hobart, who lost their first match of the season to Melbourne Stars.
