Halifax finished ten points above Chesterfield in the National League regular season and Pete Wild's side can confirm that superiority with victory in their playoff eliminator at The Shay Stadium.

The Shaymen are armed with home advantage for this one-off tie courtesy of their higher league position and that ought to stand them in good stead.

Third-placed Halifax were the most productive team at home in the division this season, collecting 53 points from 22 games and losing on only three occasions.

That impressive run of results includes a 2-0 win over Chesterfield just over a month ago and Halifax conceded only 11 goals on their own patch this term so the Spireites could struggle to overturn the form.

Chesterfield clung onto a playoff place despite picking up just eight points from their final ten games and their dip in form coincided with the injury to top scorer Kabongo Tshimanga, who had netted 25 goals in 30 appearances until being ruled out for the season in February.

Manager Paul Cook still has the personnel to cause Halifax problems but they are undoubtedly weakened by the absence of star man Tshimanga. Take the hosts to set up a date with Solihull Moors in Sunday's playoff semi-final.
