Jon Rahm dominating the betting for Royal St George's showpiece
Justin Thomas finds some form in Scotland just in time for the Open
Jon Rahm is a general 7-1 favourite for this week's Open Championship after finishing seventh in the Scottish Open on Sunday.
The Spaniard had a golden winning opportunity in Scotland, but closed with eight pars, enduring a weekend of frustration on the greens. Min Woo Lee, a pre-tournament 160-1 outsider, took the title with a birdie at the first extra hole of a playoff against Thomas Detry and Matthew Fitzpatrick.
On the PGA Tour, John Deere Classic favourite Daniel Berger finished tied for 34th place, with ante-post 55-1 chance Lucas Glover triumphant.
Glover covered the final seven holes in five under par to win by two shots from Ryan Moore and Kevin Na. Glover was 12th in the last Open at Royal St George's - this week's venue - so the former US Open champion has headed to a course he likes seeking a second Major victory.
Justin Thomas, who tied for eighth place in the Scottish Open, can be backed at 20-1 for the Open. Xander Schauffele, tenth in Scotland, is also a top-price 20-1 to lift the Claret Jug on Sunday.
Rory McIlroy, who missed the Scottish Open cut by a shot, is second in the Open betting at 16-1. Bookmakers are offering enhanced each-way terms, with BoyleSports and Paddy Power introducing a sixth the odds, the first 12. Betfair are a fifth the odds, the first ten.
Min Woo Lee, Thomas Detry and Jack Senior earned Open places from their Scottish Open efforts. Marcel Siem got an Open spot from winning the Challenge Tour event on Sunday. Ryan Moore qualified from the John Deere Classic, but has said he is unlikely to accept the opportunity. If Moore decides against making the trip to Kent, Adam Long is first alternate.
