Europe

Carlota Ciganda

World ranking 12

Fourth appearance

Solheim form W5 L4 H2

The Spanish 29-year-old is Europe’s top-rated player. She has seven top-ten finishes this year, two of them in Majors, and two LPGA wins in 2016 but none since. Suspect on the greens.

Bronte Law

World ranking 26

Debut

The 24-year-old from Stockport, won in her first full LPGA year at the Pure Silk Championship in May. The wild card scored five out of five for GB&I in the 2016 Curtis Cup.

Charley Hull

World ranking 29

Fourth appearance

Solheim form W7 L3 H1

The star from Kettering has won in Europe and States but not as often as she should. Was the youngest to play in the Solheim in 2013 and is still only 23.

Azahara Munoz

World ranking 36

Fourth appearance

Solheim record W4 L6 H1

Aged 31, from Malaga. Her one win in the States in 2012 was matchplay. She won on her pro debut in Europe. Had four top-tens in her first six 2019 outings, but recent form is less convincing

Georgia Hall

World ranking 38

Second appearance

Solheim record W2 L3 H0

The 23 year-old from Bournemouth, seemed to have world at her feet when winning British Open last year but has struggled in the US since losing a 54-hole lead in Portland 12 months ago.

Caroline Masson

World ranking 49

Fourth appearance

Solheim record W3 L6 H2

Aged 30. The German won in South Africa on her pro debut but has triumphed only once since on LPGA circuit, in 2016. A solid performer just below top class.

Celine Boutier

World ranking 56

Debut

Tiny French 25-year-old who won Vic Open in Australia (LPGA event) at the start of the year, fifth in US Open, sixth in the British. Two victories on LET circuit in 2017 and 2018. Wild card.

Anna Nordqvist

World ranking 71

Sixth appearance

Solheim record W11 L7 H2

Swede who numbers two majors among 11 victories. She was unlucky to lose a 2016 US Open playoff on a minor rules violation. Sliding down the rankings after a poor season.

Jodi Ewart Shadoff

World ranking 82

Fourth appearance

Solheim record W3 L4 H0

The 31-year-old Yorkshire wild card has lived in Florida since 2013. Runner-up in the 2017 British Open but never won on either tour. Three early top-tens this year but has been injured.

Anne Van Dam

World ranking 100

Debut

The Dutch powerhouse, 23, is the world’s longest hitter at 285 yards and a four-time winner in Europe since 2016. A birdie machine but not always straight, she will be dangerous in fourballs.

Caroline Hedwall

World ranking 122

Fourth appearance

Solheim record W8 L4 H1

Aggressive Swede, 30, who as a captain’s pick won all five Solheim matches in 2013. A nine-time winner in Europe and Australia. Winless this year but five LET top-fives.

Suzann Pettersen

World ranking 665

Ninth appearance

Solheim record W16 L11 H6

Controversial Norwegian wild card, 38. For years she was Europe’s star match-player but quit to start a family. Once the world number two with 22 wins but underwhelming in three comeback outings.

Non-playing captain Catriona Matthew, 50

Ten appearances

Solheim record W18 L11 H8

USA

Lexi Thompson

World ranking 3

Fourth appearance

Solheim record W5 L2 H4

The highest-ranked player on either side, won her first LPGA title at 16 and first major at 19 and is now 24. One of only two Americans to have won this year (ShopRite in June). Can be a nervous putter.

Nelly Korda

World ranking 10

Debut

The younger, at 21, and more gifted of the first two sisters (daughters of tennis champion Petr Korda) to play on same US team. LPGA victories in Taiwan 2018 and Australia this year.

Lisette Salas

World ranking 16

Fourth appearance

Solheim record W4 L4 H2

The solid Californian, 30, is in fine form (runner-up British Open, third CP Open last two outings) and scored the winning point last time. Only one win in almost 200 starts but consistent.

Danielle Kang

World ranking 17

Second appearance

Solheim record W3 L1 H0

Californian, 26, who made an impressive Solheim debut in 2017, the same year she won the PGA Championship as the first of her two LPGA victories. Eight top-tens this year.

Jessica Korda

World ranking 18

Second appearance

Solheim record W1 L2 H1

26 and at 5ft 11in just the taller of the Korda sisters. Made her debut in the losing 2013 team, pulled out with injury in 2017. A five-time LPGA winner with four top-tens this year.

Angel Yin

World ranking 31

Second appearance

Solheim record W1 L1 H1

The Californian, still only 20, is a massive but erratic hitter. She won her fourball with Salas by 6 & 5 last time and was runner-up 2019 US Open. Her only win came in Dubai on LET circuit in 2017.

Marina Alex

World ranking 32

Debut

The 29 year-old from New Jersey, won the Portland Classic last September, shooting 65 to leader Georgia Hall’s 75 on Sunday, but has nothing better than seventh this year (four top-tens).

Brittany Altomare

World ranking 33

Debut

The 28-year-old from Massachusetts was beaten by Nordqvist in a 2017 Evian playoff and is yet to win on the LPGA Tour. Runner-up in Meijer Classic was the pick of three top-tens this year.

Annie Park

World ranking 44

Debut

The New Yorker, 24, was ranked 236 in the world when she won last year’s ShopRite Classic. Just three top-tens this year, she was on the winning 2014 Curtis Cup team. One of the lesser lights.

Megan Khang

World ranking 46

Debut

Only 21 and 5ft 1in, born in Massachusetts from Vietnamese parents and one of six rookies. Top-ten in two Majors this year. Her best LPGA finish was third in China in 2017.

Ally McDonald

World ranking 51

Debut

The 26-year-old from Massachusetts, was a very late substitute for Stacy Lewis, whose back problem flared up in practice. A non-winner with a best of third at ShopRite. Top-ten in two majors.

Morgan Pressel

World ranking 52

Fifth appearance

Solheim record W10 L7 H2

Florida prodigy who won a major at 18 but is 31 now and without a victory since 2010. Fourth at British Open, she hits it further now and is a good putter. Given a wild card for her experience.

Non-playing captain Juli Inkster, 59

Nine appearances

Solheim record W15 L12 H7
