BMW PGA Championship first-round predictions
Byeong-Hun An holds the 72-hole course record at Wentworth following his 2015 BMW PGA Championship success and he looks a lively outsider in his opening-round threeball with home challengers Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick, which tees of at 12.25pm on Thursday.
This is the South Korean's first visit since finishing 15th in 2018, but he performed solidly to make the PGA Tour Championship and 13th spot at The Open after an opening 75 is also a cause for optimism.
Expect him to fire out of the traps quicker this time against Fleetwood, who despite possessing all the necessary attributes for Wentworth success has posted just two top-tens in 12 starts at the Surrey track, while Fitzpatrick's season has been a disappointment featuring only three top-ten finishes.
Fitzpatrick's brother Alex heads out at 1.05pm alongside Sweden's Sebastian Soderberg, whose first-round effort should eclipse that of the Sheffield challenger and European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald.
Fitzpatrick has finished in the top 12 of his last four DP World Tour tournaments, but his 69th on course debut last year was underwhelming and Soderberg has the tee-to-green credentials to bounce back from a missed cut at the Irish Open.
He can also see off two-time winner Donald, who has made little impression on the circuit this season.
