Maverick McNealy looks to have the tee-to-green and putting ability to perform well at this week's 3M Open, but results have not been going his way and there are no guarantees that he is about to turn things around.

He has posted just three top-ten finishes this year and perhaps more concerning is that he has been outside the top 35 in 19 of his last 25 efforts.

McNealy missed the cut by four at last week's Open Championship and while that may not be hugely relevant form for this test, the psychological impact of his Friday 81 may be, so Chan Kim could get the better of him at the TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota.

Kim has emerged from three straight missed cuts with some decent performances, showing he is getting to grips with this level after some fine form on the Korn Ferry Tour and in Japan over the last few years.

He was 12th at the John Deere Classic, tenth at the Isco Championship and 29th in the Barracuda, so he could be in for a good week.

Keith Mitchell has top-five finishes in each of the last two years, but his confidence is bound to be low after only one top-ten in his last 13 outings.

He came nowhere near making the cut at a low-grade Barracuda Championship last week and he may not be able to bounce straight back.

It would not be a big surprise if sharp Canadian putter Taylor Pendrith can eclipse Mitchell's efforts this week.

He won the CJ Cup in May and was fifth in the Barracuda, so there is a strong chance he can perform a lot better than he did on his course debut last year, when he missed the cut by a shot.

Billy Horschel finished two shots behind Open winner Xander Schauffele at Royal Troon and while that was an excellent effort it could have taken its toll.

He tends to perform well in the weaker events, but so does South African Erik van Rooyen, who attended the nearby University of Minnesota and was sixth at his last Stateside appearance in the Rocket Mortgage Classic.

He was also eighth at the Mexico Open, second at the Cognizant Classic and fourth at Myrtle Beach, so this can be another tournament where he can flourish.
