Chelsea Women vs Man Utd Women predictions

It is fair to say any anxiety surrounding Chelsea Women's future following the departure of Emma Hayes has evaporated.

The Blues have enjoyed a seamless transition to life under Sonia Bompastor, who became the first manager in Women's Super League history to win their opening seven league fixtures last Saturday as Chelsea eased to a 2-0 win over Manchester City.

They square up against Manchester United on Sunday in a battle between the only remaining unbeaten teams in this season's WSL and the Blues look the more likely to preserve that status.

Defensive solidity has been key for United, who have conceded just twice in 630 minutes in the WSL this season, but they are yet to be properly tested with a struggling Arsenal their fiercest opponents so far.

Chelsea have scored first in each of their seven fixtures, they are averaging 3.6 goals per game in the league and they also top the table for average chances created, with 13.14 per game, as well as shots on target with 7.71.

Bompastor wants her side to play one way and one way only and they are unlikely to be deterred by United when the sides meet at Kingsmeadow, where Chelsea can lay down a marker with a comprehensive win.

The hosts destroyed United 6-0 when they last met in May and they have arguably developed an even more ruthless nature since then.

At odds-against, Chelsea are worth backing to win this contest by three goals or more – something they have done in four of their last six matches.
