Wednesday's Women's Champions League football predictions

Calling it a Battle of Britain might be a bit of a stretch, but there should still be plenty of entertainment on offer when Celtic welcome Chelsea to Parkhead.

Elena Sadiku's hosts are yet to score in Group B, losing 2-0 to FC Twente and 4-0 at Real Madrid, while the Blues beat Las Blancas 3-2 before triumphing 3-1 in Enschede.

Sonia Bompastor has won all eight matches in charge since succeeding Emma Hayes as Blues boss and that looks unlikely to change at Parkhead, albeit at 1-33 Chelsea aren't much of a betting proposition.

Therefore, switching focus to the goalscorer markets might prove wise and Chelsea midfielder Guro Reiten immediately stands out.

The Norwegian is in a rich vein of form, netting six times in Chelsea's last seven outings, and backing her to improve on that fine record in Glasgow makes additional sense considering she will likely be on penalty duty. She converted from 12 yards in the wins over both Real and Twente.

That pair meet in Wednesday's other match in Group B and Real should be too good – and with something to spare. In Group A, meanwhile, two-time winners Wolfsburg are 1-25 away to Galatasaray.

Focus, therefore, falls on the other game in the section, where Lyon will look to extend their run of eight matches without conceding, having warmed up for their trip to Roma by outclassing Guingamp 8-0.

Friday's scoreline is an outlier in their recent results, but while Le Giallorosse are a decent side in their own right, Lyon are eight-time European champions and were last season's runners-up.

They have already beaten Gala 3-0 and Wolfsburg 2-0 in this competition and play with the required control to win another game featuring no more than three strikes.
