Thursday's Women's Champions League football predictions

Arsenal have steadied the ship after a shaky start to the season and will be looking for their sixth consecutive win with a clean sheet when they head to Norway to take on Valerenga in the Women's Champions League.

The Gunners are virtually guaranteed a quarter-final spot but will want to ensure they are in a strong position to win the group by beating Bayern Munich next week, so don't expect them to sit back against a team who won the Norwegian title by 15 points but have not played since November 24.

Valerenga held the Frauen Bundesliga champions to a 1-1 draw last month but they could struggle to keep a lid on their visitors from London, in particular striker Alessia Russo.

The England centre-forward has scored two Champions League goals this season, but the Lionesses star has notched five times in her last four Women's Super League outings and can make her mark again.

Manchester City are already in the last eight after four straight Group D wins and they have conceded just once in eight home games this season.

However, Gareth Taylor's side were made to battle for a 3-2 win at this week's opponents St Polten in October and they have not scored more than five goals in any of those outings on their own patch.

The temptation could also be there to not go full throttle as the game progresses – City face Barcelona next week – so it seems unlikely the Citizens will cut loose.
