Women's Super League football predictions

Arsenal's quest to snatch the Women's Super League title from Chelsea's grasp hasn't got off to a great start and the effects of their 5-2 midweek defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League could lead to a hangover for Saturday's visit from the Blues.

Their loss to the Frauen Bundesliga champions could linger and the Gunners have not got going this term, having drawn their last two home matches against Manchester City and, more disappointingly, Everton last week.

Chelsea are hunting for their sixth successive title in Sonia Bompastor's first campaign at the helm, and they received a tonic with a 3-2 win over Real Madrid on Tuesday.

Not only have they had an extra day to recover, but their game against Manchester United last weekend was postponed because of their European commitments, so they could be a lot fresher at the Emirates and that puts them in a strong position to continue their perfect start following wins over Aston Villa and promoted Crystal Palace.

United, meanwhile, put their unbeaten start to the season on the line against Tottenham on Sunday and they should claim three points against the Londoners.

The extra rest should have the home side champing at the bit and while Spurs started the campaign with a 4-0 win over Palace, a subsequent 2-2 draw at Villa against a team who have struggled at home lately and a 3-2 home loss to Liverpool mean they already have ground to make up.
