Women's Super League football predictions

The Women's Super League was rocked by the summer news that Arsenal's Vivianne Miedema, the league's record goalscorer, would join Manchester City and the Dutch striker can help her team get their campaign off to a winning start when she makes an immediate return to the Emirates on Sunday.

Miedema has had her injury issues over the last couple of seasons but she found the net for Gareth Taylor's side in their 5-0 Champions League win over Paris in midweek - the victory was even more impressive as last season's top goalscorer Khadija Shaw had to miss the match due to a visa issue.

City missed out on the WSL title on goal difference last term as Chelsea claimed their fifth successive crown, but the emphasis on gaining a strong start will be even more important now the champions' star coach Emma Hayes has left the club.

City conceded just 15 goals in 22 league games last season and they deserve to be feared with such strength at both ends of the field, so they look a good price to see off the Gunners, who lost their Champions League opener against Hacken in midweek.

Elsewhere, Manchester United are expected to comfortably see off West Ham, who finished second from bottom last season, on Saturday, while Championship winners Crystal Palace are 6-1 to make a winning start when they face Tottenham at Brisbane Road.
