Manchester United vs Brentford
3pm Saturday

Erik ten Hag's second Premier League match as Manchester United manager, in August 2022, ended in a humiliating 4-0 defeat at Brentford, who scored four times in the first 35 minutes.

Ten Hag is clinging on at Old Trafford, perhaps helped by Thomas Tuchel's decision to take the England job, but his side should be opposed in Saturday's home fixture against the Bees.

The visitors have been on an extraordinary run, scoring in the first minute against Manchester City, Tottenham and West Ham before taking a second-minute lead in the 5-3 home win over Wolves last time out.

Despite those fast starts, Thomas Frank's men have a modest tally of ten points from seven games but that is still two more than the Red Devils, whose lack of firepower is a huge concern for Ten Hag.

United have failed to score in four of their last five league matches and three of their five goals this season came in a win at struggling Southampton.

Brentford lost 2-1 at Old Trafford last season, when the hosts needed an injury-time brace from Scott McTominay, and they look a big price with the draw no bet this weekend.

Best EFL bet

Cardiff vs Plymouth
Sky Sports+, 12.30pm Saturday

After nine rounds of the Championship season, Cardiff are bottom of the table but the Bluebirds have a good opportunity to revitalise their campaign at home to Plymouth.

Cardiff's underlying stats suggest their performances have been better than their results, particularly defensively, and they were good value for a 1-1 draw at Bristol City in their last game.

That followed their first league win of the season, a 1-0 home victory over Millwall, and interim boss Omer Riza could claim another three points on Saturday.

Only one of Plymouth's 11 points this season has been earned away from home and they have lost five of their last six Championship road fixtures to nil.

A 97th-minute goal from Morgan Whittaker gave the Pilgrims a 2-1 win over Blackburn before the international break, after a red card for manager Wayne Rooney, but they may struggle to follow up on the trip to south Wales.

Best European bet

Como vs Parma
2pm Sunday

Parma and Como finished first and second in Serie B last season and the promoted pair have made entertaining starts to their top-flight campaigns.

Como's last four Serie A results were a 2-2 draw with Bologna, 3-2 victories over Atalanta and Verona and a 3-1 defeat at Napoli, while both teams scored in Parma's first six games, including a 2-1 win against Milan.

Parma were reduced to ten men early in the second half of their 0-0 draw at Bologna last time out but there were 32 shots at goal in that stalemate, 13 of them by Parma, so a lively contest is expected when they visit Como.
