Best Premier League bet

Brentford vs West Ham
3pm Saturday

West Ham's defensive woes have deepened with a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League last weekend and a 5-1 EFL Cup rout at Liverpool on Wednesday.

The Hammers were 2-0 down inside 18 minutes against the Blues and it may not take long for Saturday's hosts Brentford to find a breakthrough.

West Ham won 2-0 at struggling Crystal Palace in their first away fixture of the season but they have conceded in the fourth, tenth, 24th and fourth minutes of their other four league matches.

Brentford, in contrast, have blasted out of the blocks in their last two top-flight outings, scoring in the first minute on their trips to Manchester City and Tottenham.

The Bees were unable to build on those early strikes, going down 2-1 at City and 3-1 at Spurs, but they have less to fear against West Ham, who have made a patchy start to life under Julen Lopetegui.

Brentford have been leading at half-time in their league wins against Palace and Southampton as well as EFL Cup victories over Colchester and Leyton Orient and they can make another slick start on Saturday.

Best EFL bet

Sheffield Wednesday vs West Brom
Sky Sports+, 12.30pm Saturday

Championship leaders West Brom have taken 16 points from a possible 18 this season, only slipping up in a goalless draw with title favourites Leeds.

The Baggies have been miserly at the back, conceding just twice in six games, and they should be backed to grind out another away win at lowly Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls were 9-1 to be relegated at the start of the season but they have failed to kick on from an opening-weekend 4-0 rout of Plymouth.

That was followed by defeats to nil against Sunderland, Leeds and Millwall and they conceded crucial late goals in a 1-1 home draw with QPR and a 2-1 loss at Luton.

Wednesday should be confident of finding form soon but they may struggle to stop the rot against this weekend's rock-solid visitors.

Best European bet

Osasuna vs Barcelona
LaLigaTV, 8pm Saturday

Robert Lewandowski scored the only goal of the game in Barcelona's 1-0 home win over Getafe on Wednesday but there should be more entertainment when Hansi Flick's men head to Osasuna.

The hosts also had a quiet midweek fixture, drawing 0-0 at Valencia, but that was only their second clean sheet in their last 15 La Liga outings.

Osasuna have won their last three home games, including a 3-2 victory over Celta Vigo and a 2-1 success against Las Palmas, and they can land a blow on the Barca defence.

However, the rampant leaders have beaten Girona 4-1 and Villarreal 5-1 in their last two away matches and, given that they are 1-11 to beat Young Boys in the Champions League on Tuesday, Flick should unleash his big guns this weekend.
