Dan Childs's EFL predictions

Plymouth vs Blackburn

Plymouth have raised a few eyebrows with their positive start to the season and they can move closer to mid-table security with a home win over Blackburn.

Staying in the Championship is an ongoing challenge for Argyle, who operate on a lower budget than most of their rivals, but they are meeting it head on and have taken eight points from eight games.

Wayne Rooney's side were beaten 1-0 at Burnley on Tuesday but they competed well against the Clarets and have not been outclassed since a 4-0 loss at Sheffield Wednesday on the opening weekend of the season.

Seven of Plymouth's points have been gained at Home Park, where they have registered impressive victories over Sunderland and Luton.

And another maximum looks achievable against Blackburn, who suffered their first Championship defeat on Tuesday at Coventry.

Blackburn are another team who have performed above expectations, although all of their four league wins have come at Ewood Park.

The Lancashire side have picked up only three wins from their last 18 Championship road trips and will have unhappy memories of last season's September trip to Plymouth when they lost 3-0.

Rovers have shown more resilience this term, picking up draws away to Norwich and Burnley, but they were poor in their midweek at Coventry and may struggle to avoid a second loss in five days.

Peterborough vs Stevenage

Solid defence has underpinned Stevenage's impressive start to the League One season and it can lay the foundation for at least a point and maybe all three against out-of-sorts Peterborough.

Alex Revell's Boro have conceded just five league goals and moved up to ninth place after back-to-back 1-0 victories at home to Charlton and Wrexham.

Both of those successes were well deserved and the Hertfordshire side will be targeting a first away win of the season against Peterborough, who have sustained back-to-back league losses for the first time since March.

The Posh were swept aside 3-0 at Wigan on Tuesday and have conceded 17 league goals, which is the highest total in the division.

Darren Ferguson's men could do with a response but they are facing physical, uncompromising opponents and may have to stomach another disappointing result.

Mansfield vs Blackpool

Steve Bruce is off to a flying start in the Blackpool dugout, winning four of five League One games, and he can steer the Seasiders to victory over promotion rivals Mansfield.

Blackpool's winning streak under Bruce came to an end on Tuesday with a 1-1 draw at home to Lincoln.

However, they have been playing entertaining, front-foot football and look overpriced for an away win over Mansfield, who climbed to third after their 2-0 midweek success at Crawley.

Mansfield have registered four consecutive hard-fought victories but their purple patch may be about to end.

MK Dons vs Tranmere

League Two heavyweights MK Dons showed their class on Tuesday with a 5-1 victory at Harrogate and they can follow up by defeating Tranmere at Stadium MK.

The Dons are responding well to new manager Scott Lindsey and should have too much quality for Tranmere, who are on a four-game winless sequence.

Haji Wright Coventry vs Sheffield Wednesday

The Coventry attacker has had a mixed start to the season but he bagged his third goal of the campaign in Tuesday's 3-0 win at home to Blackburn and can find the net against struggling Sheffield Wednesday.
