Scottish football predictions
Scottish league leaders Celtic visit Hearts in an unusual 7.45pm kick-off on Saturday, looking to take advantage of a home side that came into the weekend just a point ahead of their rivals Hibs at the bottom of the table.
The Bhoys may need the win to maintain top spot, with Aberdeen fancied to secure another victory when they visit St Mirren earlier in the day.
The Dons have won a whopping 16 of their 18 games in all competitions, with the only team that they have failed to beat being Celtic, who they drew with in the league and were beaten 6-0 by in the League Cup semi-final.
Jimmy Thelin’s side bounced back after that disappointment with a 4-1 win over Dundee and they could add another victory against a Saints side who have struggled for consistency.
St Mirren were a touch fortunate to hold out for a 2-1 win against Hibs last time out and have lost four of their last seven games. Take Aberdeen to keep up the pressure at the top of the table with a win.
St Johnstone are finding it difficult acclimatising to manager Simo Valakari’s possession-based style of football and have lost three in a row as a result.
They have, however, scored eight times in their last five outings and could be involved in a high-scoring affair when they host Kilmarnock, who have been uncharacteristically porous this season.
Killie lead the league with 182 shots conceded and six of their last eight games have gone over 2.5 goals. A repeat of that is fancied in what could be an entertaining bottom-half scrap.
