Scottish football predictions

Edinburgh City picked up their first victory of the season when beating Forfar 3-0 last weekend, but the Citizens remain a poor side and they are likely to be hit hard when Scottish League Two leaders Peterhead come to Meadowbank.

The Blue Toon added to their squad in the summer and attacking duo Seb Ross and Cammy Smith have made a positive impact.

Peterhead, who beat Elgin and Kelty in the Scottish League Cup, have also won three of their opening four league matches and look set for a comfortable success without conceding against Edinburgh City.

Hearts and Kilmarnock suffered European heartache on Thursday night and the duo look set for more pain back in the William Hill Scottish Premiership on Sunday.

Hearts are yet to win in any competition this season. The Jambos were beaten by Championship side Falkirk in the Scottish League Cup and there have been heavy top-flight defeats to Dundee and Motherwell.

Steven Naismith's men did put up a decent show when losing 1-0 to Viktoria Plzen on Thursday, but it was nothing more than that and Dundee United look overpriced at Tynecastle.

The Terrors, unbeaten in the league this season, impressed when crushing St Johnstone 2-0 at Tannadice last time out and Jim Goodwin has enjoyed a clear week to prepare his side for the trip to Gorgie.

Kilmarnock registered just 31 per cent possession in a 1-1 draw with Copenhagen on Thursday and it's not just recovery skills that Killie have to prove against Hibernian.

Derek McInnes' team haven't won a game domestically this term and have managed only six shots on target in their opening three Scottish top-flight matches. There is little goal threat with Kyle Vassell not firing.

Hibs would have hoped for a better start under David Gray, but the Leith outfit have played Celtic twice already this season and last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Dundee was a step in the right direction.

Kieron Bowie and Mykola Kukharevych look like useful attacking additions, while Martin Boyle remains a good performer and Hibs can be fancied for victory at Rugby Park.
