Saturday's FA Cup predictions
Leicester vs QPR
The majority of the FA Cup’s third-round ties take place on Saturday and the hunt for a giant-killing will be on, with QPR looking like decent candidates to land an upset when they visit Premier League strugglers Leicester.
The Foxes have been dismal since Ruud van Nistelrooy took over, losing five of his seven games in charge and conceding 17 goals in the process.
They face a tough task trying to stay in the top flight and that could prove a distraction when they face a Rangers team that are firmly on the up.
The visitors have a week between this game and their next league assignment, while Leicester have a crucial midweek clash against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, meaning they may field a weakened team.
Marti Cifuentes’ men have only lost one of their last 11 games and are now just eight points off the Championship playoffs after languishing around the relegation zone for much of the campaign.
QPR beat Leicester away from home last March and look an eye-catching prospect to overturn their Premier League opponents to qualify for the fourth round with all FA Cup ties now being settled on the day rather than going to a replay.
Chelsea vs Morecambe
Chelsea barely got out of first gear when beating Morecambe 4-0 at this stage four years ago and it should be a similar story this time around.
The Shrimps are just two points off bottom spot in League Two and have lost five of their last seven games without scoring.
Enzo Maresca is likely to ring the changes but that has done them no harm in the Conference League, where they have won all six games by an aggregate score of 28-5.
The Blues could do with a confidence-boosting win after a wobble in their league form, and they should be able to pick up a comfortable win to nil.
Bournemouth vs West Brom
Bournemouth have been one of the most impressive teams in the Premier League this season, sitting just a point behind Manchester City after 20 games.
The Cherries were dealt a hammer blow this week, however, as both Evanilson and Enes Unal were ruled out with long-term injuries.
That leaves them short up front and while Daniel Jebbison has been recalled from his loan at Watford, he showed little to suggest that he is ready to make an impact.
Justin Kluivert remains Bournemouth’s top scorer with six league goals and is a tempting price to net in this cup clash.
The former Roma man scored in the third round last season and is also the hosts’ penalty taker, having netted five spot kicks this term.
