Wolves vs Manchester City predictions

Manchester City are facing a few on and off-field challenges as they strive to win a fifth successive Premier League title but they haven't lost a top flight match since December 2023 and should register a comfortable success over Wolves at Molineux.

The Premier League's case against City's alleged breaches of financial rules has gone on for just over a month but the immediate target for Pep Guardiola is a more polished product on the pitch.

It might seem strange to question a team on a 30-game Premier League unbeaten run but City have not been wholly convincing and efforts to find the right balance to the team in the absence of Rodri are an ongoing process.

Mateo Kovacic played the Rodri role in the 3-2 victory at home to Fulham and scored a couple of goals, but City offered up plenty of opportunities to the Cottagers and could have been two goals down before the Croat's 32nd-minute leveller.

The concern for City is that their experience against Fulham was far from a one-off.

Guardiola's side are on a run of seven successive domestic matches without keeping a clean sheet and their expected goals-against stands at 8.95 which is only the sixth-lowest in the division.

A title-chasing team would hope to concede fewer chances but, in the short-term, City will probably focus on simply outscoring their opponents.

They shouldn't have too many problems finding the net against Wolves, who have shipped 21 goals this season, the worst tally in the division.

Wolves might have feared a difficult start to the season as soon as the fixtures were released.

Five of their opening seven matches have been against teams from last season's top seven and they have lost all of them.

Wolves manager Gary O'Neil would have wanted his charges to upset at least one of those heavyweight opponents but he will have been more concerned by his team's dreadful performance in a 5-3 loss at Brentford last time out.

The Black Country side travelled to Brentford with high hopes but they shipped four goals in the opening half, removing any hope of a positive outcome.

It seems pretty obvious that Wolves need to tighten up, but O'Neil is an attack-minded coach who is unlikely to suddenly switch to blanket defence.

Wolves will probably look to ruffle a few City feathers and they might even score for a ninth successive game.

However, City will be more than happy to get involved in an open contest and they should have few problems picking up a sixth league win of the campaign.

Wolves vs Manchester City bet builder predictions

Manchester City to win
City have not been at their best but they continue to churn out results and should have too much firepower for the basement boys.

Jack Grealish to score any time
Grealish should feel confident after his goalscoring performance for England and he can score his first club goal since December 2023.

Joao Gomes to be carded
Gomes is one of Wolves's best players but he has committed 17 fouls this season and looks a likely caution candidate.
