Wolves vs Man Utd predictions
The sight of 40 in Wolves’ goals-conceded column presented new manager Vitor Pereira with a clear priority upon his Molineux arrival last week, and a second clean sheet of the campaign in his first match at Leicester was a perfect tonic.
It looks like a boost they can build upon and the Midlands outfit have no need to feel apprehensive about a visit from Manchester United, even though their 3-0 win at the King Power did not take them out of the bottom three.
Wolves are a general 1-2 to stay up and definitely appear to have the resources to make relegation somebody else’s problem, and while the Portuguese manager may feel he has the players to climb the table, the same probably doesn’t apply to his fellow countryman at Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim plainly has a job to raise both spirits and expectations at Manchester United and a derby win over City the week before last already seems a long time ago.
They lost 4-3 to Tottenham in the League Cup when goalkeeper errors presented them with two goals and that was followed by a 3-0 humbling at home to Bournemouth for the second consecutive season.
Their one clean sheet during Amorim’s reign came against Everton, who have failed to score in six of their last seven matches.
Meanwhile, although Wolves have defended poorly, they have scored six more goals than United and even more than Nottingham Forest, who are fourth.
The Old Golds have scored in all their home games this season and it is worth chancing they can build on last week’s showing and claim a victory at a tasty 14-5.
Key stat
Manchester United have kept just one clean sheet in nine games under Ruben Amorim
