Wolves vs Liverpool predictions

The early Premier League schedule has been a brutal one for Wolves, who have already faced four of the current top six, and the mood around Molineux is unlikely to be lifted with Liverpool visiting them on Saturday.

Gary O'Neil's side have taken only one point from their opening five top-flight games, which is why they are rooted to the foot of the table, and Wolves have been exposed defensively with a joint league-high 14 goals conceded.

There have been moments of promise but the West Midlands side have been thrashed 6-2 at home by Chelsea and surrendered leads in their last two matches against Newcastle and Aston Villa, suggesting that getting anything positive from a rampant Liverpool may be beyond them.

Even in picking up their solitary point in a 1-1 draw at Nottingham Forest, the Tricky Trees had 16 shots and forced seven corners, and Wolves will be wary of the fact that they have lost 11 of their last 13 meetings with Liverpool.

The transition from Jurgen Klopp to Arne Slot has been much smoother than many may have predicted and Liverpool head to Molineux having won six of their seven matches in all competitions.

The only hiccup during the Dutchman's reign has been a surprise 1-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest, but the response to that setback has been nothing short of superb.

Three days after that loss, Liverpool got their Champions League pursuit started with a 3-1 win away to Milan, while it was easy work in their latest Premier League fixture as they brushed aside Bournemouth 3-0 at Anfield.

Liverpool then inflicted a 5-1 hiding on West Ham in the EFL Cup third round on Wednesday, all despite Slot making nine changes to his starting line-up.

So, with the Reds' heavy-hitters fit and refreshed, Wolves look up against it and Liverpool can win a high-scoring tea-time kick-off.

Wolves have shown their attacking quality, scoring in all four league games since losing 2-0 at the Emirates on the opening weekend of the season, and in Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen they have two viable threats to the Reds’ rearguard.

But Liverpool's forwards, headlined by Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, are in flying form and they should be brimming with confidence having scored three or more in four of their last five outings which includes a triumph at Manchester United.

Key stat

Wolves have lost six of their last seven Premier League home matches.
