Premier League player props preview

Ipswich vs Leicester

Many expected Leicester to struggle on their return to the Premier League but the Foxes have picked up some decent results to pull five points clear of the relegation zone after nine games.

Leicester will seeking to extend that buffer on their trip to fellow new boys Ipswich and their tricky attackers could cause Town some issues at Portman Road.

Abdul Fatawu is a doubt but the two options to replace him are equally as adept at drawing fouls from defenders, with both Facundo Buonanotte and Jordan Ayew ranking in the top 20 for fouls drawn in the Premier League this term.

Buonanotte has been brought down on 14 occasions while Ayew has been fouled an average 4.22 times per 90 minutes in the league.

The opposing left-back has been booked in three of Leicester's last four league games, making the 6-1 about Ipswich's Leif Davis being shown a card too big to ignore.

Davis is an exceptional attacker but can be exposed defensively and he could be caught out by the Foxes' tricky wingers.

Southampton vs Everton

There are plenty of reasons why Southampton prop up the Premier League but their weakness from set-pieces is a glaring shortcoming that must be addressed quickly if they are to stave off relegation.

No Premier League side has conceded more goals from set-plays than the Saints (seven) this term, which is particularly bad news ahead of a visit from Everton, who have netted four times from set-pieces – the joint-most in the division.

Dwight McNeil is a master of dead-ball situations and, should he be deemed fit enough to start, looks worth a play in the assists market.

The Everton winger has created 14 chances from set-pieces in the Premier League this term – only Andreas Pereira and Leif Davis have produced more – and he is a nice price to exploit one of Southampton's biggest weaknesses.

Manchester United vs Chelsea

Ruud van Nistelrooy will remain in charge of Manchester United until Ruben Amorim takes the reins on November 11, so it could be worth banking on one of the standout performers from Van Nistelrooy's first game as interim Red Devils boss to have another big impact against Chelsea on Sunday.

Casemiro netted twice in United’s 5-2 rout of Leicester in the League Cup and he could demonstrate further attacking intent against a Blues side who have gone seven games without a clean sheet.

The Red Devils midfielder netted against West Ham last Sunday and odds of 2-1 about the Brazilian registering a shot on target at Old Trafford are inviting.

However, while United’s midfielders may shine against the Blues, their centre-backs could be in for a tough afternoon against the lively Nicolas Jackson.

An opposing centre-back has been booked in five of Chelsea’s last six Premier League games and Mathijs de Ligt, who was carded five times in 22 Bundesliga games for Bayern Munich last term, could find his name taken by referee Robert Jones.
