Tottenham vs Newcastle predictions
None of the previous 59 Premier League encounters between Tottenham and Newcastle have finished goalless, so Saturday's clash should be entertaining, but the value still lies in a win for top-four chasers Newcastle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
The Magpies finished 2024 on fire, winning their last four Premier League matches by an aggregate scoreline of 13-0, while they also booked their place in the EFL Cup semi-finals.
Central to their upturn in form have been the goals of red-hot Alexander Isak, who scored in all six of his side's league fixtures in December to take his tally to 12 goals in 17 top-flight appearances this term.
But the work of those around Isak should also not go unnoticed with wingers Anthony Gordon and Jacob Murphy evolving into terrific assist-makers.
Eddie Howe will also have been pleased to see his side record four successive league clean sheets at the end of the year and, while all good things must come to an end, it is hard to see Newcastle's winning streak snapping away to a depleted and inconsistent Tottenham.
There is no doubting that injuries have taken their toll on Spurs and Destiny Udogie is the latest to be sidelined, joining key centre-backs Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero in the treatment room.
Tottenham will also be missing the midfield steel of Rodrigo Bentancur once again and they could well be carved open by a confident and fluid Newcastle attack.
The centre-back partnership of Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray, who has been deployed out of position, is simply not working and Spurs ended 2024 winless in their last three games, losing 6-3 to Liverpool and 1-0 to Nottingham Forest before a 2-2 draw with Wolves.
Ange Postecoglou will surely look to draft in reinforcements in the January transfer window but his current crop could struggle again.
Spurs have not exactly been a force on their own patch, winning only four of their ten league assignments at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Ipswich, Fulham and Wolves have collected points this term.
Newcastle were 2-1 winners when these sides met back in September - they have now beaten Spurs in four of their last five league meetings - and the Magpies have not been fazed by high-profile opponents, having also beaten Arsenal and held Liverpool and Manchester City to draws.
Tottenham are low on numbers and confidence and one of the last teams they would want to be facing are Newcastle, who have emerged as prime contenders for a Champions League berth.
Key stat
Newcastle have won their last five games in all competitions.

Tottenham vs Newcastle bet builder predictions
Over 3.5 goals
There has never been a 0-0 draw between these sides in the Premier League and, given that Tottenham's league games have averaged 3.63 goals per game, there is a good chance this match could feature four goals or more.
Alexander Isak to score
Alexander Isak was in exceptional form in December, scoring in all six of his team's league fixtures, and he can net against leaky Spurs.
Pedro Porro to be carded
Pedro Porro has committed ten league fouls this term, picking up two yellow cards in the process, and he could go into the book when up against the in-form Anthony Gordon.
