Match preview

Tottenham fans were starved of entertainment in the early part of the season but they are witnessing plenty of goals in recent matches and that trend can continue when Spurs lock horns with Crystal Palace.

After the postponement of two of Tottenham's December league fixtures, it would have been understandable if Antonio Conte's side had taken a bit of time to get back up to speed.

However, they were involved in a thrilling 2-2 draw at home to Liverpool on Sunday and were 2-1 winners at home to West Ham in Wednesday's EFL Cup quarter-final.

The downside to Tottenham's last two performances has been their suspect defending.

Conte's side lost the shot count on both occasions - ten to 18 against Liverpool and ten to 17 against West Ham - and goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had to be at his very best against the Hammers, who could count themselves a shade unfortunate.

Tottenham are likely to defend with more authority when Cristian Romero returns from injury but for now they look a little exposed, and Palace will fancy their chances of taking advantage.

Palace's points total of 20 is two down on the same stage of last season but they are looking more threatening in attack and have scored in ten of their last 12 Premier League games.

For several years Palace have been too reliant on Wilfried Zaha, but the goals. Assists have been spread more evenly this season and Chelsea loanee Conor Gallagher is topping the Eagles' scoring charts with six goals in 16 appearances.

Palace were 3-0 winners at home to Spurs in September when they dominated the game from start to finish.

However, they will be up against a more confident, attack-minded Spurs side in north London and, while the result looks uncertain, there is a strong chance of goals for both teams.
