Team news
Southampton
Che Adams may be available after a muscle injury but James Ward-Prowse serves the second match of a three-game ban. Jack Stephens remains sidelined.
Burnley
Ben Mee could feature after a Covid-19 absence while Matej Vydra and Charlie Taylor face late tests.
Match preview
There would have been a sense of relief at St Mary's last week when Southampton got off the mark with a 1-0 win against Leeds.
However, there has been a shortage of goals at the south coast venue this season and that pattern could continue when Ralph Hasenhuttl's Saints host Burnley on Saturday.
Southampton have scored two goals in their four home matches this term and while they lost 3-1 at Chelsea, two of the Blues' goals came after James Ward-Prowse had been sent off, so the quality of their defence does not seem too much of an issue.
Burnley are still looking for their first win of the campaign, having claimed just three points in eight games, and they have scored only two goals in their last four matches.
Both of those came against Leicester and one of them was an own goal, so it is a little surprising to see under 2.5 goals chalked up at a shade of odds-against this week.
Key stat
Southampton have scored more than once in just three of their last 17 home matches.
