Tottenham v Brentford
Two of Tottenham’s biggest weaknesses under Ange Postecoglou have been exposed in their recent games against Arsenal and Coventry - their vulnerability from set pieces and on the counter attack.
That makes Brentford one of the worst opponents that they could face with their manager starting to feel the pressure.
As the Bees showed against Manchester City, they can be deadly on the break and they are set up to cause maximum damage from set pieces.
Just over half of the shots that Spurs have faced this term have come from set plays, the most in the league, and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s struggles on that front are no secret.
To add to that, only five teams have allowed more shots from fast breaks than Spurs’ five and they were hit on the counter multiple times against Coventry in midweek.
The visitors have also scored at least twice in their last four meetings with Tottenham.
Key to Brentford’s two-pronged threat to their hosts will be Bryan Mbeumo, who already has three league goals this term.
An injury to Yoane Wissa is disappointing but Mbeumo is likely to shoulder more attacking responsibility in his absence.
The Cameroonian is their number one threat on the counter and will also be their corner-taker, so the away team’s gameplan should provide him with plenty of opportunities to record a goal or an assist.
Southampton v Ipswich
In his short time with Ipswich Liam Delap has already shown glimpses of why he was so highly rated at Manchester City.
The striker is a real physical presence and scored an impressive goal against Fulham.
He could be crucial to the Tractor Boys’ chances of breaking down a Southampton defence that has conceded eight times already this term.
Delap looks a big price to get on the scoresheet and may be the centre of attention in other ways too.
The 21-year-old has committed 12 fouls already this season - only Lewis Cook has given away more - but he has yet to be booked.
He was carded in a 2-2 EFL Cup draw with Wimbledon and his cardless league streak may run out here.
Fulham v Newcastle
Alexander Isak was withdrawn in Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Wolves last weekend with a facial injury but it has also been revealed that he has a problem with his foot and he is a doubt for the Magpies' match at Fulham.
With Callum Wilson also injured, the visitors’ striking options are limited meaning Anthony Gordon may feature through the middle.
The former Everton man was Newcastle’s second-highest scorer in the league last season, netting 11 times, and he is already off the mark for the new campaign.
