Newcastle vs Manchester City

Manchester City's title challenge suffered a hammer blow this week with the confirmation that midfield maestro Rodri will miss the rest of the season – but one player who could benefit is Rico Lewis.

It is a testament to how much faith Pep Guardiola has in the youngster that Lewis has started seven of the Citizens' eight games in 2024-25, and the England international is likely to receive even more playing time in Rodri's absence.

Inverting into a midfielder when City are in possession, Lewis has registered two assists in his last five appearances and looks overpriced to record another goal contribution against Newcastle on Saturday.

The 19-year-old can pick up the spaces between opposing central defenders and full-backs, an area of particular weakness for Newcastle.

The Magpies have a terrible recent league record against Guardiola's champions and Lewis could prise open their defence at St James' Park.

Nottingham Forest vs Fulham

Fulham broke their transfer record to sign Emile Smith Rowe from Arsenal and the 24-year-old's fee is already proving to be money well spent.

The Cottagers have astutely reinvested the funds they received from Joao Palhinha's move to Bayern Munich to build a squad with far better balance.

Smith Rowe has been a key part of that transition and the former Gunner has already scored twice for his new club.

The playmaker also has an assist to his name and there is every chance he could either add to his own tally or lay on a goal for one of his teammates against a Nottingham Forest side who were breached six times by the Cottagers last term.

Wolves vs Liverpool

Rayan Ait-Nouri is one of the few players to emerge from Wolves' poor start to the season with any credit, but he will have to be on the top of his game to contain Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah on Saturday evening.

Ait-Nouri loves to get forward from full-back but his attacking tendencies can leave him and Wolves exposed.

The Algeria international has committed two fouls in each of his five league games this season and his patience is sure to be tested against Salah, who has begun the new season in fantastic form.

Backing Ait-Nouri to concede two fouls once more looks a sound play and, at bigger odds, he also appears a likely candidate to go into Anthony Taylor's notebook at Molineux.
