Saturday's Premier League 3pm predictions

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth predictions

Aston Villa are doing an excellent job of balancing the Premier League with their continental commitments and they can strengthen their place in the top four with a home victory over Bournemouth.

Villa have gone ten games unbeaten in all competitions since losing 2-0 to Arsenal at the end of August and they took their tally in the Champions League to three wins from as many matches with Tuesday’s 2-0 beating of Bologna.

But their Champions League quest hasn’t deterred them in the Premier League and they have taken 14 points from their last six matches, with their recent home form featuring wins over Everton and Wolves prior to a goalless draw with Manchester United.

Bournemouth have been given plenty of respect by the layers due to Villa’s demanding schedule and the fact that they were 2-0 winners at home to Arsenal last time out.

However, the Cherries had lost three of their four league games to nil prior to upsetting the Gunners, including a 1-0 reverse at Leicester.

That means that Bournemouth’s only three wins in their last 14 top-flight away games have come at Burnley, Wolves and Everton, suggesting that they may be out of their comfort zone at Villa Park.

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth team news

Aston Villa: The hosts have a fully-fit squad with suspended winger Jaden Philogene their only confirmed absentee.
Bournemouth: The Cherries are without midfielder Alex Scott, who had knee surgery this week to repair his meniscus, as well as Luis Sinisterra. However, Tyler Adams returned to the bench in victory over Arsenal last week and is back in contention.

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth predicted line-ups

Aston Villa (4-2-3-1): Martinez; Cash, Carlos, Torres, Digne; Tielemans, McGinn; Bailey, Rogers, Ramsey; Watkins.
Bournemouth (4-2-3-1): Kepa; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Cook, Christie; Semenyo, Kluivert, Tavernier; Evanilson.

Aston Villa vs Bournemouth key stat

Brentford vs Ipswich predictions

While there have been occasional signs of promise – notably a 2-2 draw with Aston Villa – the table doesn’t lie for Ipswich and no wins from eight games has to be a worry for Kieran McKenna.

A 4-1 thrashing at West Ham and a subsequent 2-0 home loss to possible relegation rivals Everton highlighted real issues in defence for the Tractor Boys, suggesting they will need to lean on their attackers if they are to have any chance of survival.

Luckily for Ipswich, they do have one of the Premier League’s most dangerous strikers in Liam Delap and he could be the key to any success Town enjoy at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Delap has been a rare bright spot in a tough campaign for McKenna’s men, scoring four goals in eight league games and looking threatening in every match.

The Tractor Boys forward has taken 14 shots in his last six games and could regularly trouble a Brentford defence which has gone ten Premier League matches without a clean sheet, conceding 20 goals in that run.

Brentford vs Ipswich team news

Brentford: Long-term absentees Josh Dasilva, Aaron Hickey, Gustavo Nunes and Igor Thiago remain out. Rico Henry is unlikely to be risked but Mathias Jensen could feature.
Ipswich: Axel Tuanzebe, Jacob Greaves, Ben Johnson and Massimo Luongo are out but Jens Cajuste may be available.

Brentford vs Ipswich predicted line-ups

Brentford (4-2-3-1): Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Lewis-Potter; Wissa
Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Muric; H Clarke, Woolfenden, O’Shea, Davis; Morsy, Phillips; Ogbene, Hutchinson, J Clarke; Delap

Brighton vs Wolves predictions

The misery for the Premier League’s basement boys continued last Sunday as Manchester City’s 95th-minute winner snatched a valuable point away from Wolves in dramatic fashion, leaving Gary O’Neil’s side rooted to the bottom of the table.

Having taken just one point from their opening eight league games, and conceding 23 times in that run, confidence will be at an all-time low in the Wolves camp, with things unlikely to get any better at Brighton.

The Seagulls came from two goals down to beat Tottenham in their last home match before landing a 1-0 victory at Newcastle.

They are a side thriving under Fabian Hurzeler and, having won four and drawn the other two of their six home matches this term, should be backed to beat Wolves for the sixth time in eight meetings.

However, Brighton look likely to concede on their way to three points. Wolves have netted while losing each of their last six matches and both teams to score could land for the fourth Seagulls game on the spin.

Brighton vs Wolves team news

Brighton: James Milner, Joao Pedro, Solly March, Matt O’Riley and Adam Webster remain out, while Simon Adingra, Yankuba Minteh and Danny Welbeck need to be assessed.
Wolves: Hee-Chan Hwang, Enso Gonzalez, Boubacar Traore, Sasa Kalajdzic and Yerson Mosquera are long-term absentees. Sam Johnstone is back in training but Gary O’Neil has been coy on who will start in goal at Brighton.

Brighton vs Wolves predicted line-ups

Brighton (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Veltman, Dunk, Igor, Kadioglu; Baleba, Hinshelwood; Enciso, Rutter, Mitoma; Ferguson
Wolves (3-5-2): Sa; Bueno, Dawson, T Gomes; Semedo, J Gomes, Andre, Lemina, Ait-Nouri; Strand Larsen, Cunha

Man City vs Southampton predictions

Despite an injury crisis and the fact they have not played their best football this season, Manchester City are hot on the heels of Liverpool in the Premier League title race and can reel off another victory over Southampton.

City have won six and drawn two of their opening eight league fixtures, maintaining their high standards even in the absences of key midfielders Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne.

They also took their Champions League points haul to seven from three games after a 5-0 mauling of Sparta Prague on Wednesday and they should ease past Southampton.

Pressure is mounting on Saints boss Russell Martin, given his team have lost seven of their opening eight matches, and last Saturday they led 2-0 against Leicester until the 64th minute before throwing away their advantage to lose 3-2 to the Foxes.

That kind of defensive collapse is why they find themselves in the relegation zone already and things do not get any easier this weekend.

They have been leaking goals but have also scored in their last five contests and they can score even in defeat to the Citizens.

Man City vs Southampton team news

Man City: Pep Guardiola is still without key trio Kyle Walker, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne, while Jeremy Doku join them on the sidelines. Jack Grealish faces a late fitness test.
Southampton: Saints will be without Ryan Fraser, who was sent off in defeat to Leicester. Gavin Bazunu, Ross Stewart and Will Smallbone are also out, while Yukinari Sugawara is a doubt. Jack Stephens, however, is back from suspension.

Man City vs Southampton predicted line-ups

Man City (4-1-4-1): Ederson; Lewis, Stones, Dias, Gvardiol; Kovacic; Savinho, B Silva Foden, Nunes; Haaland.
Southampton (3-4-3): Ramsdale; Stephens, Bednarek, Harwood-Bellis; Walker-Peters, Aribo, Downes, Fernandes; Manning, Archer, Dibling.

Man City vs Southampton key stat

Man City have conceded in six of their last eight wins in all competitions.

Man City to win and both teams to score
