Saturday's Premier League 3pm predictions

Aston Villa vs Wolves predictions

An excellent start to the season continued for Aston Villa on Tuesday as they won their first Champions League match 3-0, and they can stay on the right track to record a fifth win of the campaign against struggling Wolves.

The pressure is building on Wolves manager Gary O'Neil after his side suffered a sixth league loss in seven games when surrendering a one-goal lead against Newcastle last Sunday.

Wanderers are without a win in their last nine league away matches – a run which includes six losses – and it is difficult to see them picking up anything at Villa, who won this fixture 2-0 last term.

However, there are signs Wolves will have enough to get on the scoresheet. Villa have gone eight home matches without a clean sheet and have already been breached by Leicester and twice by Everton this season.

Wolves have some talented attackers and could find the net in Birmingham. The hosts' forwards are in frightening form, though, and the Villans should be expected to outscore their visitors given Jhon Duran is averaging a goal every 34 minutes in the Premier League this term and Ollie Watkins is coming off of a brace against Everton.

Aston Villa vs Wolves team news

Aston Villa: Ollie Watkins is fit and Leon Bailey could return but Boubacar Kamara, Matty Cash, Jaden Philogene and Tyrone Mings are out.
Wolves: Boubacar Traore, Sasa Kalajdzic, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Enso Gonzalez are out. Toti Gomes and Yerson Mosquera need to be assessed.

Aston Villa vs Wolves predicted line-ups

Aston Villa (4-4-1-1): Martinez; Bogarde, Konsa, Torres, Digne; McGinn, Onana, Tielemans, Ramsey; Rogers, Watkins
Wolves (4-4-1-1): Johnstone; Semedo, Dawson, Mosquera, Doherty; Lemina, J Gomes, Andre, Bellegarde; Cunha; Strand Larsen

Aston Villa vs Wolves key stat

Wolves are winless in nine Premier League away games, losing six times in that run.

Best bet for Aston Villa vs Wolves:

Aston Villa to win & both teams to score
1pt 2-1 bet365

Fulham vs Newcastle predictions

Fulham succumbed to Preston in the League Cup third round on Tuesday after losing the longest penalty shootout in the competition's history but they can erase their disappointment by beating Newcastle at Craven Cottage.

The Cottagers experienced Deepdale displeasure after a 1-1 draw and an extraordinary 16-15 defeat on spot-kicks, but the outcome would not have been an earth-shattering blow to manager Marco Silva, who had illustrated his priorities by making 11 changes to his starting line-up.

Silva's focus was always on the clash with Newcastle as he seeks to turn his team's steady start to the season into a really positive one.

Fulham conceded an injury-time goal in last Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to West Ham and will be hoping for a better outcome against Newcastle, who have taken ten points without playing particularly well.

Eddie Howe's side moved up to third after last Saturday's 2-1 win at Wolves, but they have lost the shot count in three of their four matches and their good fortune may be about to run out.

Fulham vs Newcastle team news

Fulham: Carlos Vinicius is expected to be sidelined until October.
Newcastle:
Callum Wilson, Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Lewis Miley miss out and Alexander Isak is a doubt.

Fulham vs Newcastle predicted line-ups

Fulham (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Pereira, Lukic; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez.
Newcastle (4-3-3): Pope, Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Murphy, Isak, Gordon.

Fulham vs Newcastle key stat

Fulham are unbeaten in their last five matches

Best bet for Fulham vs Newcastle:

Fulham draw no bet

Leicester vs Everton predictions

Everton's miserable start to the season continued with a penalty shootout loss to Southampton in the EFL Cup third round, but the Toffees have played some decent football among the defeats and they look overpriced to triumph over Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

The last few years have been tough for Toffees fans and their patience has been tested further by a string of four successive league defeats, Everton's worst start to a season since 1958.

However, Sean Dyche is not the type to shirk a challenge and his players performed admirably for long spells of last Saturday's 3-2 loss at Aston Villa.

Everton have taken the lead in each of their last three games and, if they get their noses in front at Leicester, they might be able to see the job through.

Leicester have posted only 35 shots - the second-lowest tally in the division - and squandered a two-goal advantage when drawing 2-2 at Crystal Palace last Saturday.

Everton would know all about the perils of defending two-goal leads but their luck may be about to turn.

Leicester vs Everton team news

Leicester: Odsonne Edouard was ineligible to play against parent club Crystal Palace last weekend but he comes into contention. Patson Daka and Jakub Stolarczyk miss out.
Everton: Vitaliy Mykolenko should be available after illness but Seamus Coleman, Nathan Patterson, Youssef Chermiti, Jarrad Branthwaite and Armando Broja remain absent and Idrissa Gueye misses out due to a family bereavement.

Leicester vs Everton predicted line-ups

Leicester (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Justin, Okoli, Faes, Kristiansen; Winks, Skipp; Ayew, Ndidi, Mavididi; Vardy.
Everton (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Young, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Doucoure, Iroegbunam; Harrison, Ndiaye, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin.

Leicester vs Everton key stat

Everton have taken seven points from their last three trips to Leicester

Liverpool vs Bournemouth predictions

Liverpool started their Champions League campaign with a superb 3-1 victory away to Milan and they can wrap up a highly satisfactory week with a home win over Bournemouth.

The Reds' trip to San Siro was eagerly anticipated and a few of their players might have been guilty of taking their eye off the ball in last Saturday's Premier League fixture at home to Nottingham Forest.

Arne Slot's side were below their best against the Tricky Trees and paid a heavy price when Callum Hudson-Odoi's superb strike condemned them to a shock 1-0 defeat.

However, Liverpool's midweek response was superb and they are likely to be just as focused on a return to winning ways in the Premier League.

Bournemouth have started the season well and were unlucky to lose 1-0 at home to Chelsea last weekend after missing a penalty and winning the shot count 19 to ten.

The Cherries are a well organised side with a few threats on the counter-attack but they face a tough task on Merseyside and may slide to a low-scoring defeat.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth team news

Liverpool: Alisson faces an assessment and Harvey Elliott remains unavailable.
Bournemouth: Tyler Adams definitely misses out and Dango Ouattara is a doubt but Kepa Arrizabalaga should return after he was ineligible to face Chelsea last weekend.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth predicted line-ups

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Kelleher; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Mac Allister; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Nunez.
Bournemouth (4-2-3-1): Kepa; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Christie, Cook; Semenyo, Kluivert, Tavernier; Evanilson.

Liverpool vs Bournemouth key stat

Liverpool have won four of their last five league games and each of them has featured fewer than four goals

Best bet for Liverpool vs Bournemouth:

Liverpool and under 3.5 goals
1pt 13-8 BoyleSports

Southampton vs Ipswich predictions

Criticism about a non-existent Plan B caused Russell Martin to ring the changes for last week’s visit from Manchester United, only for Southampton to lose 3-0 to the out-of-form Red Devils, suggesting it could be a long season for the Saints.

A visit from fellow promoted side Ipswich looks more winnable, but expectant Saints fans may leave St Mary’s with a familiar disappointed feeling once again.

Ipswich did the double over Southampton last term and have shown far more in their opening four Premier League games than Martin’s men.

New signings Liam Delap, Sammie Szmodics and Jacob Greaves have slotted into Kieran McKenna’s side seamlessly and back-to-back draws with established Premier League sides Fulham and Brighton suggest a first win is not far away for the Tractor Boys.

Southampton will be without Jack Stephens for this clash, making an already shaky defence even weaker, and Ipswich have the attackers to hurt their hosts.

The Tractor Boys can take motivation from their double over the Saints last term and while a win is certainly not beyond them, keeping the draw on side could be a safer play.

Southampton vs Ipswich team news

Southampton: Jack Stephens is suspended and joins Kamaldeen Sulemana, Will Smallbone and Gavin Bazunu on the sidelines.
Ipswich: Right-backs Harry Clarke and Janoi Donacien remain out but winger Nathan Broadhead is nearing a return and will be assessed.

Southampton vs Ipswich predicted line-ups

Southampton (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; Sugawara, Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Walker-Peters; Downes, Ugochukwu; Dibling, Fernandes, Brereton Diaz; Armstrong
Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Muric; Tuanzebe, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Phillips; Burns, Hutchinson, Szmodics; Delap

Southampton vs Ipswich key stat

Ipswich have lost just one of their last five clashes with Southampton, winning both meetings last term.

Best bet for Southampton vs Ipswich:

Ipswich draw no bet
2pts 5-4 BoyleSports

Tottenham vs Brentford predictions

Tottenham recovered from a disappointing north London derby defeat by coming from behind to beat Coventry on Wednesday and they should build on that result against Brentford.

The Bees have enjoyed a decent start to the season but they gave up plenty of chances at Manchester City and Liverpool, which could be good news for Spurs’ misfiring forwards.

Dominic Solanke is one of those struggling Lilywhites and he will be keen to prove his worth after a frustrating night in Coventry which resulted in zero shots.

He has looked better in the league, however, managing three shots on target on his debut against Leicester and getting off two efforts in the north London derby, one of which he really should have put away.

A breakthrough is coming for Tottenham’s record signing and a clash with a Bees side who have gone ten Premier League away games without a clean sheet could provide it.

Solanke scored in both of his appearances against Brentford last term and a long-awaited goal could be on the cards for the English forward.

Tottenham vs Brentford team news

Tottenham: Richarlison has been joined on the sidelines by Wilson Odobert but Yves Bissouma and Timo Werner have recovered from knocks and could feature.
Brentford: Yoane Wissa has been ruled out for two months and joins Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva, Igor Thiago, Aaron Hickey, Mathias Jensen and Gustavo Nunes in the treatment room.

Tottenham vs Brentford predicted line-ups

Tottenham (4-3-3): Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Kulusevski, Bentancur, Maddison; Johnson, Solanke, Son
Brentford (5-3-2): Flekken; Ajer, Collins, Pinnock, Van den Berg, Lewis-Potter; Carvalho, Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Schade

Tottenham vs Brentford key stat

Brentford’s only clean sheet this term came against League Two Colchester.

Best bet for Tottenham vs Brentford:

Dominic Solanke anytime scorer
