Saturday's Premier League 3pm predictions

Arsenal vs Southampton predictions

Title-chasing Arsenal overcame some hairy moments against Leicester to put four goals past the Foxes and land three points and the Gunners are set to put another promoted side to the sword this weekend.

The Gunners racked up 4.4 expected goals against Leicester – which according to some data collectors is the joint highest of any side in a Premier League game this term. And that is bad news for Southampton, who have conceded ten times in their last four top-flight matches.

A huge part of Arsenal's attacking threat comes from set-pieces, with no team in the division bettering their tally of three set-play goals this term. And they should have plenty of joy in that department against the Saints, who have conceded a league-high six times from such situations.

Declan Rice is one of the Gunners' regular set-piece takers and with the corners likely to rack up at the Emirates, he could register an assist this weekend.

The Arsenal midfielder has scored twice against Southampton in the past. And with that being the most he has managed against any side, it is worth backing the notion of Rice scoring as well as creating against the sorry Saints.

Arsenal vs Southampton team news

Arsenal: Oleksandr Zinchenko, Martin Odegaard and Kieran Tierney are all out, while a late decision will need to be made on defenders Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White and Jurrien Timber. Of that trio, Tomiyasu has trained the most this week. Summer signing Mikel Merino is available for his Premier League debut.
Southampton: Jack Stephens remains suspended, while injury absentees Kamaldeen Sulemana, Will Smallbone and Gavin Bazunu are still unavailable.

Arsenal vs Southampton predicted line-ups

Arsenal (4-4-2): Raya; Tomiyasu, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Saka, Partey, Rice, Martinelli; Havertz, Trossard
Southampton (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale; Sugawara, Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Taylor; Downes, Ugochukwu; Fraser, Fernandes, Dibling; Archer

Arsenal vs Southampton key stat

Southampton have conceded six set-piece goals in the Premier League this term, more than any other side.

Brentford vs Wolves predictions

Basement boys Wolves have been having a tough time but they can lift some of the gloom by holding Brentford to a draw at the Gtech Community Stadium.

It is hard to find positives when sat at the bottom of the table but Wolves can at least point to their brutal opening six games, a run which has included five fixtures against teams who finished in last season's top seven.

Results have been disappointing for the West Midlands side, but Wolves have approached their matches with a positive mindset and took the lead in losses at home to Newcastle (1-2) and away to Aston Villa (1-3).

Gary O'Neil's outfit have scored in their last seven competitive games and if they can find the net against Brentford, it might be enough to earn them a share of the spoils.

Brentford are six points better off but they have had a easier start and were probably fortunate to draw 1-1 at home to out-of-sorts West Ham last Saturday after losing the shot count 19 to eight.

Thomas Frank will be targeting a better performance but his injury-hit side are easily swerved at a shade of odds-against.

Brentford vs Wolves team news

Brentford: Christian Norgaard and Kevin Schade are welcomed back while Mathias Jensen is pushing to rejoin the squad. However, Igor Thiago, Rico Henry, Josh Dasilva (all knee), Aaron Hickey (thigh), Gustavo Nunes (back) and Yoane Wissa (ankle) are unavailable.
Wolves: Sasa Kalajdzic, Enso Gonzalez, Yerson Mosquera, Boubacar Traore (all knee) and Bastien Meupiyou (unspecified injury) are ruled out but Craig Dawson (illness) and Santiago Bueno (muscle fatigue) should be fit enough to feature.

Brentford vs Wolves predicted line-ups

Brentford (4-4-2): Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Schade, Janelt, Damsgaard, Lewis-Potter; Carvalho, Mbeumo.
Wolves (4-1-4-1): Johnstone; Semedo, S Bueno, T Gomes, Ait-Nouri; Andre; Cunha, Lemina, J Gomes, Forbs; Strand Larsen.

Brentford vs Wolves key stat

Five of Brentford's last six draws have come on home soil.

Leicester vs Bournemouth predictions

Bournemouth have made a reasonable start to the campaign and their lively attack could make the difference against Leicester at the King Power Stadium.

Eight points from six games is a decent return for the Cherries, who have already played against three of last season's top seven sides. And Andoni Iraola's team showed their quality on Monday with a convincing 3-1 victory at home to newly-promoted Southampton.

Bournemouth were far too slick for the Saints and their star centre-forward Evanilson provided the moment of the match with a superb bit of movement and finishing for the opening goal.

Evanilson looked relieved to get off the mark and his increased confidence means he could be a major threat to Leicester, who remain winless in the top flight and are still searching for their first Premier League clean sheet of the season.

The Foxes showed fighting spirit in last Saturday's 4-2 loss at Arsenal but could have no complaints overall after losing the shot count 35 to five.

They will be involved in a more balanced game this weekend but Bournemouth have superior attacking players and Evanilson looks overpriced to get on the scoresheet.

Leicester vs Bournemouth team news

Leicester: Patson Daka, Jakub Stolarczyk (both ankle) and Hamza Choudhury (shoulder) are sidelined. Jannik Vestergaard is available again, but several unnamed players are nursing minor injuries and will be assessed.
Bournemouth: Tyler Adams (back) is the only confirmed absentee for the visitors.

Leicester vs Bournemouth predicted line-ups

Leicester (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Okoli, Kristiansen; Skipp, Winks; Buonanotte, Ndidi, Mavididi; Vardy.
Bournemouth (4-2-3-1): Arrizabalaga; Smith, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Cook, Christie; Semenyo, Tavernier, Ouattara; Evanilson.

Leicester vs Bournemouth key stat

Leicester have conceded the first goal in six of their last seven Premier League matches.

Best bet for Leicester vs Bournemouth:

Evanilson to score at any time
1pt 2-1 Coral, Hills, Ladbrokes

Manchester City vs Fulham predictions

Impressive wins over a strong Newcastle side and a previously unbeaten Nottingham Forest mean that Fulham start the weekend flying high in sixth.

They will not be getting ahead of themselves just yet, however, as a trip to the Premier League champions is the biggest possible obstacle for their growing confidence as the Cottagers have lost each of their last 16 meetings with Manchester City.

The Citizens remain the strongest side in England and have their eyes on a fifth consecutive top-tier title, but they are far from bulletproof.

City have gone five league games without a clean sheet, conceding to Ipswich to begin that run, and Fulham could play their part in an exciting Etihad encounter.

The Cottagers cannot hide from their dismal record against the Citizens, but they have at least been more competitive in the sides' recent meetings, scoring in four of their last five clashes.

New signing Emile Smith Rowe has added some much-needed creativity to Fulham's attack and they should have enough to find the net against a City side who are far leakier without midfield linchpin Rodri.

Marco Silva's side will still probably succumb to their hosts for the 17th time on the spin, though.

Manchester City vs Fulham team news

Manchester City: Rodri, Kevin De Bruyne, Oscar Bobb and Nathan Ake remain unavailable for the champions.
Fulham: Jorge Cuenca and Carlos Vinicius are the Cottagers' only absentees.

Manchester City vs Fulham predicted line-ups

Manchester City (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Walker, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Lewis, Kovacic; Bernardo, Foden, Grealish; Haaland
Fulham (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Pereira, Lukic; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez

Manchester City vs Fulham key stat

Manchester City are unbeaten in 22 meetings with Fulham, winning each of their last 16 clashes.

West Ham vs Ipswich predictions

West Ham fans are eagerly awaiting the catalytic moment for the Julen Lopetegui era, but a string of poor results and a reported dressing-room scuffle during last Saturday's 1-1 draw with Brentford are signs that could still be a while away.

It may be early to suggest that a match in October is a must-win outing for the Hammers boss, but the unrest is growing in the London Stadium stands and Lopetegui needs an improved performance against Ipswich.

However, that is far from guaranteed. The Tractor Boys have drawn their last four matches – holding Brighton and Aston Villa in that run – and will look to exploit a leaky Hammers defence.

West Ham have shipped 13 goals in an ongoing five-match winless run, with the players seemingly struggling to get to grips with the significant style-switch from David Moyes to Lopetegui.

Their defence has looked open all season – Nicolas Jackson was a big beneficiary of that weakness when Chelsea won 3-0 in West Ham's last home game – and Liam Delap, who will be high on confidence after a point-winning brace last week, has the pace, strength and finishing ability to exploit that shaky backline again.

West Ham vs Ipswich team news

West Ham: Niclas Fullkrug is still out, but Edson Alvarez is back from suspension and should replace Guido Rodriguez in midfield.
Ipswich: Jens Cajuste is unavailable. Harry Clarke and Nathan Broadhead will need to be assessed after missing out last week.

West Ham vs Ipswich predicted line-ups

West Ham (4-1-4-1): Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson; Alvarez; Bowen, Soucek, Paqueta, Kudus; Antonio
Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Muric; Tuanzebe, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Phillips; Burns, Hutchinson, Clarke; Delap

West Ham vs Ipswich key stat

Liam Delap has scored three of Ipswich's five Premier League goals this season.

Liam Delap to score at any time
