Saturday's Premier League 3pm predictions

Brentford vs Southampton predictions

Brentford were unable to put Liverpool under much pressure last week, but their 2-1 opening weekend success over Crystal Palace was a strong showing and they can build on that with another home win over promoted Southampton.

Much of the talk around the Gtech Community Stadium has been about Ivan Toney's future, but Thomas Frank still has Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa to lead his attack and they can cause Saints, who have suffered 1-0 defeats to Newcastle and Nottingham Forest, plenty of problems.

The Bees have lost one of their last seven on their own patch, but this may not be a game filled with goals.

Frank's team have had a total of just seven shots on target in their two matches - mustering two in the 2-0 defeat at Anfield is understandable - while Southampton have had a total of four, which is disappointing, especially considering they played for an hour against ten men in their defeat at St James' Park.

This should be a home win but don't expect the hosts to go goal-crazy.

Brentford vs Southampton team news

Brentford: Aaron Hickey has been ruled out long-term with a hamstring injury. New signing Gustavo Nunes could come into contention but Rico Henry and Josh DaSilva are out.
Southampton: The Saints were waiting for league approval for goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to play after joining from Arsenal. Kamaldeen Sulemana faces a late fitness test on an ankle injury.

Brentford vs Southampton predicted line-ups

Brentford (4-3-3): Flekken; Roerslev, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Jensen, Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Wissa, Lewis-Potter.
Southampton (3-5-2): McCarthy; Harwood-Bellis, Bednarek, Stephens; Sugawara, Smallbone, Downes, Aribo, Walker-Peters; Armstrong, Brereton Diaz

Everton vs Bournemouth predictions

Everton won their final five Premier League games at Goodison Park last season without conceding, but such defensive stinginess seems a long time ago for a team who have shipped seven goals in their opening two encounters of the new term.

It will take more than a 3-0 EFL Cup win over League Two Doncaster to ease any fears.

Bournemouth have lost on six of their seven top-flight visits to Goodison Park, but they have felt hard done by in their last couple of games, cursing VAR for disallowing Dango Ouattara's header that would have given them a win over Newcastle and then complaining about the technology's absence when Jarrod Bowen's winner for West Ham in the EFL Cup looked both offside and handball.

The Cherries will want to channel their frustration into claiming their first win of the season and a player to keep an eye on is Antoine Semenyo.

It will not be his job entirely to replace the 19 goals that new Spurs boy Dominic Solanke scored last season, but Semenyo had five shots in their opener against Nottingham Forest and seven against the Magpies, so he looks a big price to find the net.

Everton vs Bournemouth team news

Everton: Jarrad Branthwaite, Youssef Chermiti and Nathan Patterson are all missing but Seamus Coleman, James Tarkowski and James Garner are available to start, as is Ashley Young following his ban.
Bournemouth: Kepa Arrizabalaga is likely to start in goal after joining on loan from Chelsea. Philip Billing is struggling with a back injury, while Enes Unal, Tyler Adams and David Brooks are out.

Everton vs Bournemouth predicted line-ups

Everton (4-2-3-1): Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Iroegbunam, Gueye; Harrison, Doucoure, McNeil; Calvert-Lewin.
Bournemouth (4-2-3-1): Kepa; Araujo, Zabarnyi, Senesi, Kerkez; Cook, Christie; Semenyo, Kluivert, Tavernier; Evanilson

Ipswich vs Fulham predictions

Ipswich would have wondered what they had done to upset the fixture computer after facing Liverpool and champions Manchester City in their opening two games back in the Premier League, but the Tractor Boys are not going to be able to relax just yet.

A home clash against Fulham in front of a packed Portman Road crowd will be seen as a great chance for the Suffolk outfit to get off the mark.

The Cottagers won just four league games on the road last term, but there have been good signs from Marco Silva's side that they can negotiate this test, which is one of a several potential early-season banana skins.

They played well in their opening game at Manchester United before falling to a late goal and have already put a promoted team in their place having beaten Leicester last week.

Ipswich also have to cope with the scars of a shock EFL Cup exit at AFC Wimbledon and it would not be a surprise if Fulham proved to Kieran McKenna's side that no Premier League opponents can be easily dismissed.

Ipswich vs Fulham team news

Ipswich: Wes Burns, Nathan Broadhead, George Hirst, Janoi Donacien and Harry Clarke have all been ruled out for the Tractor Boys. On-loan Kalvin Phillips is available after being ineligible to face parent club Manchester City.
Fulham: The Cottagers have a clean bill of health, so Ryan Sessegnon and Joachim Andersen will hope to start after featuring in the midweek EFL Cup win at Birmingham.

Ipswich vs Fulham predicted line-ups

Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Muric; Tuanzebe, Woolfenden, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Luongo; J Clarke, Szmodics, Hutchinson; Delap.
Fulham (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Diop, Bassey, Robinson; Lukic, Pereira; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz.

Leicester vs Aston Villa predictions

On Thursday, Aston Villa discovered where they will be travelling during their first Champions League campaign since 1983 but they meet opponents much closer to home when they visit Leicester.

The Foxes managed to hold Tottenham to a draw in their opener but were seen off 2-1 at Fulham last weekend and may struggle again when they face Villa.

Unai Emery's side missed plenty of opportunities to get in front against Arsenal last weekend before succumbing to a pair of second-half goals to lose 2-0 and if they repeat the level of that first-half performance, they should be too strong for this Leicester team.

The Villans won their first away game of the campaign against West Ham and have been victorious on two of their last three visits to the King Power Stadium.

These two teams are likely to end up at opposite ends of the Premier League table come the end of the season and that difference in class may be evident.

Leicester vs Aston Villa team news

Leicester: Patson Daka and Jakub Stolarczyk remain out but Conor Coady came off the bench in midweek and could feature.
Aston Villa: Matty Cash picked up a hamstring injury against Arsenal, joining Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara on the sidelines.

Leicester vs Aston Villa predicted line-ups

Leicester (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Justin, Faes, Vestergaard, Kristiansen; Winks, Ndidi; Fatawu, Buonanotte, Ayew; Vardy
Aston Villa (4-4-1-1): Martinez; Nedeljkovic, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Bailey, Tielemans, Onana, McGinn; Rogers; Watkins

Nottingham Forest vs Wolves predictions

Wolves conceded six goals for just the second time in the Premier League last weekend after being on the wrong end of a 6-2 drubbing at home to Chelsea.

Gary O'Neil's men bounced back with a 2-0 win over Burnley in the EFL Cup in midweek and they are unlikely to be as open at the back when they visit Nottingham Forest.

The Tricky Trees have made the most of a relatively easy fixture list to start the new campaign, drawing with Bournemouth before getting the better of Southampton.

They suffered shootout heartache on Wednesday when losing to Newcastle in the cup and they may face a tougher test than the odds suggest when they take on this Wolves team.

The visitors finished 14 points ahead of Nuno Espirito Santo's men last term and should produce a better showing than they did against Chelsea.

Three of Forest's last five home games have finished in stalemate and Nuno's side may have to settle for another point here against his former club.

Nottingham Forest vs Wolves team news

Nottingham Forest: Danilo remains a long-term absentee. Ryan Yates missed their midweek game against Newcastle with illness and faces a late fitness test.
Wolves: Sam Johnstone was signed for £10m on Friday but it is unclear whether he will make his debut at the City Ground. Nelson Semedo returns from suspension but Sasa Kalajdzic and Enso Gonzalez are injured. Boubacar Traore has been ruled out for several months.

Nottingham Forest vs Wolves predicted line-ups

Nottingham Forest (4-2-3-1): Sels; Williams, Milenkovic, Murillo, Moreno; Anderson, Sangare; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
Wolves (4-2-3-1): Sa; Semedo, Mosquera, T. Gomes, Ait Nouri; J. Gomes, Lemina; Hwang, Cunha, Bellegarde; Larsen
