Saturday's Premier League 3pm predictions

Fulham vs Aston Villa predictions

Despite losing their midfield linchpin Joao Palhinha over the summer, Fulham have made an excellent start to the campaign and find themselves sitting eighth in the table.

The Cottagers beat Newcastle 3-1 and a previously unbeaten Nottingham Forest 1-0 before losing 3-2 at Manchester City last week.

However, they landed a higher expected goals figure (2.6-1.6) than the champions in that defeat and look set to cause another Champions League side, Aston Villa, some issues.

The Villans have also started well, but a 2-2 draw at promoted Ipswich in their last away game hints at defensive vulnerability and Fulham’s forwards could get plenty of chances at Craven Cottage.

Raul Jimenez is the Cottagers’ main man up front and, having netted a sensational free-kick against the USA for Mexico in midweek, there are signs he is getting back to his best.

The Mexican forward has netted four goals in his last five Fulham starts and he is a decent price to keep up his fine scoring form against a side he bagged against last term and who have kept only one clean sheet in four away games this season.

Fulham vs Aston Villa team news

Fulham: Sasa Lukic picked up a shoulder injury while away with Serbia and he is sidelined alongside Timothy Castagne. Jorge Cuenca and Carlos Vincius are nearing returns and Joachim Andersen is available.
Aston Villa: Unai Emery has confirmed that Ezri Konsa, Amadou Onana, John McGinn, Jacob Ramsey and Jaden Philogene are all fit. Long-term absentees Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara will also return to the matchday squad.

Fulham vs Aston Villa predicted line-ups

Fulham (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Pereira; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Jimenez
Aston Villa (4-4-1-1): Martinez; Cash, Konsa, Torres, Digne; Bailey, Onana, Tielemans, McGinn; Rogers; Watkins

Ipswich vs Everton predictions

While it may be too early to call it a relegation six-pointer, Ipswich and Everton will be desperate for victory at Portman Road.

The pair have just one Premier League win from a combined 14 games and are separated by a point just outside of the relegation zone.

Everton have been dismal away from home but picked up two big results at Goodison Park before the international break, beating Crystal Palace and drawing with Newcastle.

Ipswich have given a decent account of themselves on their return to the top flight but are still searching for their first win and lost 4-1 to West Ham last time out.

With both teams hard to trust, it may pay to look at the player markets. Jack Clarke is likely to face either veteran full-back Seamus Coleman or Ashley Young and that looks a mismatch.

The former Sunderland man recorded 24 goals and 15 assists across his last two full seasons and has already registered an assist for the Tractor Boys in their 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.

Ipswich vs Everton team news

Ipswich: Axel Tuanzebe is injured, joining Massimo Luongo and Jens Cajuste on the sidelines. Dara O'Shea and Nathan Broadhead face fitness tests but Ali Al-Hamadi has been passed fit.
Everton: James Garner and Tim Iroegbunam are ruled out with back and foot issues. Seamus Coleman and Vitalii Mykolenko should make the squad while a late decision will be made on centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite. Youssef Chermiti, Nathan Patterson and Armando Broja are all out.

Ipswich vs Everton predicted line-ups

Ipswich (4-2-3-1): Muric; Johnson, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Phillips; Burns, Hutchinson, Clarke; Delap
Everton (4-2-3-1): Pickford, Coleman, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Gueye, Doucoure; Harrison, McNeil, Ndiaye; Calvert-Lewin

Ipswich vs Everton key stat

Everton are winless in their last 14 Premier League away games

Man United vs Brentford predictions

Erik ten Hag has probably enjoyed the international break more than most because he hasn't been the major topic of conversation - but that may well change this weekend.

Ten Hag went into the hiatus having presided over a five-game winless streak which had critics clamouring once more for the Dutchman's head.

Two weeks on and United return to action with a tricky assignment at home to Brentford, tricky because the Bees have seriously impressed the likes of Pep Guardiola this season and can make it a hugely frustrating 90 minutes for Ten Hag.

Thomas Frank's men have played three and lost three on the road but those were fixtures at Liverpool, Man City and Spurs - all three of whom are better than United - and they were disgraced in none of them.

United have failed to score in four of their last five league games and their only win in six was when they were gifted a 3-0 success at a Southampton side who simply dissolved.

Brentford are made of much sterner stuff and United look far too short.

Man United vs Brentford team news

Man United: Erik ten Hag is without defenders Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia but Noussair Mazraoui is fit. Manuel Ugarte and Mason Mount should be available but midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is a definite absentee.
Brentford: The trip to United comes too soon for Rico Henry and Mathias Jensen but Yoane Wissa, who scored three goals in his first four games before picking up a knock, could return. Record signing Igor Thiago remains absent.

Man United vs Brentford predicted line-ups

Man Utd (4-2-3-1): Onana; Mazraoui, Lindelof, Martinez, Dalot; Eriksen, Casemiro; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.
Brentford (4-2-3-1): Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Wissa; Schade.

Man United vs Brentford key stat

Brentford have opened the scoring inside 77 seconds in each of their last four Premier League fixtures

Newcastle vs Brighton predictions

The international break will have given Newcastle a chance to reflect on their dip in form in the Premier League and they can get back on track with a win over Brighton.

The Magpies have not won a league fixture in more than a month since coming out on top against Wolves back in September.

That victory was followed by a 3-1 defeat to Fulham and draws with Manchester City and Everton but they still remain in contention for the European places.

A draw with City was not a disaster and in the 0-0 draw with Everton they at least demonstrated improved defensive resolve and a missed Anthony Gordon penalty proved costly.

Going forward they were blunted but the return from injury of Alexander Isak will be a major boost and they can make home advantage count against the Seagulls.

Brighton came from 2-0 down to see off Tottenham 3-2 at the Amex Stadium before the break but their defensive permeability will concern Fabian Hurzeler.

They have conceded at least two goals in each of their last four games in all competitions and Newcastle, who are tighter at the back, can get over the line at St James' Park.

Newcastle vs Brighton team news

Newcastle: Alexander Isak should feature but this game could come too soon for Callum Wilson. Kieran Trippier is sidelined along with Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles.
Brighton: The Seagulls will welcome back defender Jan Paul van Hecke but Joao Pedro, Adam Webster, Matt O'Riley and James Milner are unavailable.

Newcastle vs Brighton predicted line-ups

Newcastle (4-3-3): Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Joelinton; Gordon, Isak, Barnes.
Brighton (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen; Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Baleba, Hinshelwood; Minteh, Rutter, Mitoma; Welbeck.

Newcastle vs Brighton key stat

Newcastle have won two of their three home fixtures in the Premier League this season.

Best bet for Newcastle vs Brighton:

Newcastle
1pt Evs general

Southampton vs Leicester predictions

Leicester thrashed Southampton 4-1 and 5-0 on their way to last season's Championship title and the Foxes are a tempting price to frank that form in Saturday's Premier League clash at St Mary's.

The Foxes became the first promoted club to claim a top-flight victory this term, beating Bournemouth 1-0 at the King Power Stadium – five days after the Cherries had outclassed Southampton 3-1 at the Vitality Stadium.

Leicester rode their luck in that win as Bournemouth hit the woodwork twice and had 19 attempts at goal to their hosts' six.

However, Steve Cooper's men have been competitive in every league fixture this season, drawing with Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Everton and suffering narrow defeats to Fulham, Aston Villa and Arsenal, who scored twice in added time to seal a 4-2 win at the Emirates Stadium.

Saints took a shock lead in a 3-1 loss to the Gunners last time out but their only point came at home to winless Ipswich, who had six shots on target to their hosts' three, and Leicester could turn up the heat on Southampton boss Russell Martin.

Southampton vs Leicester team news

Southampton: Defender Jack Stephens is suspended and striker Ross Stewart has joined goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu on the sidelines. Kamaldeen Sulemana and Will Smallbone are fit again.
Leicester: Patson Daka and Jakub Stolarczyk are closing in on returns from ankle injuries but Hamza Choudhury is sidelined with a dislocated shoulder.

Southampton vs Leicester predicted line-ups

Southampton (3-5-2): Ramsdale; Bednarek, Harwood-Bellis, Walker-Peters; Sugawara, Aribo, Fernandes, Downes, Manning; Dibling, Archer
Leicester (4-2-3-1): Hermansen; Justin, Okoli, Faes, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Skipp; Ayew, Buonanotte, Mavididi; Vardy

Southampton vs Leicester key stat

Southampton have lost six of their seven Premier League matches this season

Best bet for Southampton vs Leicester:

Leicester
1pt 2-1 general
