Saturday's Premier League 3pm predictions

Brighton vs Ipswich predictions

Brighton have had a strong start to the season under new manager Fabian Hurzeler and after a home win over Manchester United and a draw at Arsenal, they should be confident of gaining three points against Ipswich.

However, this has the potential to be an open game and the visiting Tractor Boys will be keen to get their campaign going after they were dealt a tough hand from the fixtures computer.

Kieran McKenna’s side will not have expected much from opening games against Liverpool and Manchester City, but a draw against Fulham before the international break was encouraging and his collection of top Championship performers looking to establish themselves at the higher level should have a positive approach at the Amex.

Albion have kept just two clean sheets in their last 11 matches and that will give the Suffolk outfit encouragement that they can make their mark.

Brighton’s four home defeats in their last 18 home games came against United, City, Arsenal and Chelsea, so they look good enough to come out on top, but the visitors should contribute to the goal tally.

Brighton vs Ipswich team news

Brighton: Joel Veltman has recovered from a thigh injury. Mats Wieffer, Ferdi Kadioglu and Brajan Gruda face late tests but Matt O’Riley, Solly March and James Milner are out.

Crystal Palace vs Leicester predictions

There was a great deal of optimism at Selhurst Park after Crystal Palace finished last term with six wins and a draw from their final seven games, but the Eagles have not been flying high this term.

It may take more than a 4-0 League Cup win over Norwich and a point from a trip to Chelsea before the international break to signal that they have turned the corner after opening defeats to Brentford and West Ham, and there is little juice in their price for their latest home game against promoted Leicester.

We should anticipate both teams being positive though as Steve Cooper’s Foxes will want to claim their first win of the season after a fortunate draw at home to Tottenham was followed by defeats to Fulham and Aston Villa.

Both teams have scored in all three of those games and the need to kick-start their campaigns suggests that neither of them will want to sit back, so we could be in for a goal-filled encounter in which both teams contribute.

Crystal Palace vs Leicester team news

Crystal Palace: Midfielder Adam Wharton is fit but Trevoh Chalobah, Matheus Franca, Chadi Riad and Rob Holding are out. Eddie Nketiah is in line for a first start.
Leicester: Bobby De Cordova-Reid could be involved but Jakub Stolarczyk, Patson Daka are out and Odsonne Edouard cannot play against his parent club.

Crystal Palace vs Leicester predicted line-ups

Crystal Palace (3-4-2-1): Henderson; Clyne, Guehi, Richards; Munoz, Wharton, Hughes, Mitchell; Nketiah, Eze; Mateta.
Leicester (4-3-2-1): Hermansen; Justin, Vestergaard, Faes, Kristiansen; Ndidi, Winks, Skipp; Fatawu, Ayew; Vardy

Fulham vs West Ham predictions

West Ham have an impressive record against Fulham in the Premier League, winning 16 of their 28 meetings in this competition, and they look decent value to pick up another victory at Craven Cottage.

The Hammers have lost two of their three league games this term but those defeats have come against Aston Villa and Manchester City and Fulham represent a significant step down in class.

The Cottagers have taken four points from their opening three games but two of those came against newly-promoted teams, beating Leicester 2-1 and drawing 1-1 with Ipswich.

West Ham have invested heavily this summer and have much more attacking quality than those sides.

Julen Lopetegui’s men got the better of Crystal Palace 2-0 in their first away game of the season and look like a solid pick to begin the campaign with back-to-back victories on the road against a team that they typically get the better of.

Fulham vs West Ham team news

Fulham: Carlos Vinicius is the Cottagers' only absentee. Sander Berge could make his first start.
West Ham: Niclas Fullkrug is a doubt after picking up a knock and Aaron Cresswell is sidelined but Alphonse Areola has been passed fit from a back injury.

Fulham vs West Ham predicted line-ups

Fulham (4-2-3-1): Leno; Tete, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson; Berge, Pereira; Traore, Smith Rowe, Iwobi; Muniz
West Ham (4-2-3-1): Areola; Wan-Bissaka, Todibo, Kilman, Emerson; Alvarez, Rodriguez; Bowen, Paqueta, Kudus; Antonio

Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest predictions

The last time Nottingham Forest beat Liverpool at Anfield in the league Bill Shankly was in the home dugout and the away team’s chances of getting the better of the Reds here look slim.

Arne Slot has had an impressive start to life as Liverpool manager, topped off with a 3-0 win over rivals Manchester United before the international break that realistically could have been a wider margin of victory.

Tougher challenges await but it has been hard not to be impressed by the way Liverpool have conducted themselves in the new campaign, winning all three games to nil.

The hosts, who are into 4-1 to win the title from 15-2 ante-post, should be able to record another home victory but may concede their first league goal of the season in the process.

Forest will set up to play on the counter, where they have looked dangerous this term, and both teams have found the net in three of the visitors’ four games in all competitions this season.

Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest team news

Liverpool: Harvey Elliott faces a spell on the sidelines after breaking his foot. Curtis Jones is fit and Federico Chiesa could make his debut.
Nottingham Forest: Danilo is out for the visitors while Willy Boly and Ibrahim Sangare are doubts.

Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest predicted line-ups

Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Mac Allister, Gravenberch; Salah, Szoboszlai, Diaz; Jota
Nottingham Forest (4-2-3-1): Sels; Williams, Milenkovic, Murillo, Aina; Ward-Prowse, Anderson; Elanga, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood

Manchester City vs Brentford predictions

The hearing into Manchester City’s 115 charges over financial breaches begins on Monday and Brentford will hope the off-the-field issues can distract the defending Premier League champions, who have looked in ominously good form this season.

The Citizens have won all three league games at a canter despite missing key midfielder Rodri, who was given an extended break after helping Spain win Euro 2024.

Thomas Frank’s men have had a solid start to the new campaign, winning three of their four games in all competitions. Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo have stepped up following Ivan Toney’s departure, netting five times between them.

Brentford beat City home and away two seasons ago and while they may not be able to repeat that, they should be able to keep things respectable.

The visitors were beaten 2-0 at Anfield earlier in the season and they can avoid a heavy defeat again at the Etihad, particularly with a doubt over Erling Haaland, who has netted seven times already this season, but is a doubt following the death of a close family friend.

Manchester City vs Brentford team news

Manchester City: Nathan Ake picked up an injury on international duty, joining Oscar Bobb as an absentee. Erling Haaland is dealing with a personal issue and will be assessed but Rodri, Phil Foden and Savinho are available.
Brentford: Rico Henry, Aaron Hickey, Igor Thiago, Mathias Jensen, Josh Dasilva and Gustavo Nunes are injured but Kristoffer Ajer has recovered from an ankle injury.

Manchester City vs Brentford predicted line-ups

Manchester City (4-2-3-1): Ederson; Lewis, Akanji, Dias, Gvardiol; Kovacic, Rodri; Silva, De Bruyne, Doku; Haaland
Brentford (3-5-2): Flekken; Collins, Pinnock, Ajer; Roerslev, Damsgaard, Norgaard, Janelt, Lewis-Potter; Mbeumo, Wissa
