Team news

Newcastle
Allan Saint-Maximin remains a doubt after missing Newcastle’s last two matches with a knock, while Kieran Trippier, Callum Wilson, Jamal Lewis, Matt Ritchie and Isaac Hayden are all still sidelined. Dan
Burn is expected to feature against his former club.

Brighton
Brighton will once again have to make do without centre-back Adam Webster, who is continuing his recovery from a groin injury, but Enock Mwepu, Jeremy Sarmiento and Adam Lallana are all closing
in on returns – the latter is the most likely to feature.

Match preview

Only Liverpool have collected more Premier League points over the last six games than Eddie Howe's Newcastle and they look good value to extend that run with a victory to nil this weekend.

The Magpies have won four of their last five league games and have kept three clean sheets during that time, including in the 2-0 victory at Brentford last time out.

Brighton are enjoying an impressive season under Graham Potter, although the wheels have threatened to come off in recent weeks following a run of three successive defeats, all of which have been to nil.

Finding the back of the net has certainly been an issue for a Seagulls side who have scored just 25 goals in 26 league games this season, the same tally as 19th-placed Watford and three fewer than Newcastle.

Brighton have a good record against Newcastle in the Premier League and claimed a victory on their most recent visit to St James' Park in September 2020, but the Magpies should be confident heading into this contest.

Key stat

Newcastle have kept three clean sheets across their last five Premier League games, conceding just two goals during that time.
