Man Utd vs Tottenham predictions
Two of the last three Premier League meetings between Manchester United and Tottenham have ended 2-2 and a high-scoring draw looks the best bet when the inconsistent rivals clash at Old Trafford.
The teams kicked off the sixth round of league fixtures in tenth and 11th in the table, having both taken only seven points from their first five games.
United were reminded of the gulf between themselves and the top clubs when they were thumped 3-0 by Liverpool at Old Trafford on September 1 while Spurs have suffered frustrating defeats away to Newcastle and at home to Arsenal.
While they have ground to make up on their domestic rivals, Tottenham and United were clear ante-post favourites for the new-look Europa League, which started this week.
Cup competitions have put a gloss on Erik ten Hag's record at Old Trafford and United's shock win over Manchester City in last season's FA Cup final kept him in the job.
However, they kicked off their Europa League campaign with a limp 1-1 draw at home to FC Twente, following a goalless draw at Crystal Palace in their previous league fixture.
The Red Devils had been shorter than 1-3 to take three points against Wednesday's Europa League visitors and they are hard to trust, even at far bigger odds, to beat Tottenham.
Ange Postecoglou's men had an eventful start to their European season as centre-back Radu Dragusin was sent off less than seven minutes into their home game against Qarabag.
They rallied to win 3-0 but the visitors missed a host of clear chances including a second-half penalty and Tottenham have conceded an average of two goals per game in their past 15 Premier League away fixtures.
With so many reservations about both teams, backing a draw featuring goals at both ends looks an appealing bet.
Tottenham lost 2-1 at Newcastle in their last away league game but they had 20 shots at St James' Park – six of them from right-back Pedro Porro.
That statistic encapsulates the front-foot approach from Postecoglou's Spurs but the team still lacks balance and they conceded in the first 30 seconds against Brentford last weekend before coming back to win 3-1.
United will no doubt target Tottenham's vulnerability from set-pieces as Gabriel's winner for Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was the 13th goal Spurs have conceded from a corner in 2024.
However, the Red Devils have kept only four clean sheets in their last 20 home league fixtures - against Luton, West Ham, Everton and Fulham - and Tottenham have the attacking quality to take a point at Old Trafford.

Tottenham have conceded 30 goals in their last 15 Premier League away matches

Man Utd vs Tottenham bet builder predictions
Both teams to score
Manchester United have kept only four clean sheets in their last 20 home league games but Tottenham's defence is also hard to trust.
Matthijs de Ligt to have over 0.5 shots
The United centre-back scored at Southampton and had three attempts at goal in the draw at Crystal Palace last time out.
Rodrigo Bentancur to be shown a card
Tottenham's combative midfielder has been booked in three of his four league appearances this season and was cautioned in this fixture last term
