Chelsea's 0-0 draw at Everton on Sunday guaranteed Liverpool top spot in the Premier League on Christmas Day, but a rampant 6-3 victory over Tottenham means the Reds will go into the festive period with a four-point lead in the standings.

Arne Slot’s side are 8-15 to still be there at the end of the campaign as they bulldozed their way past a Spurs team who have conceded 13 goals across their last three home matches in all competitions.

A brace each from Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz were accompanied by goals from midfield duo Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai in a typically crazy Tottenham contest which saw the home side reply through James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke, but the result was rarely in doubt with Liverpool recording an expected goals figure of 4.94 to Spurs’ 1.31.

Liverpool were 5-1 at the start of the season to be top of the tree at Christmas and it has been another good weekend for Slot’s men who have seen a couple of their title rivals slip up.

Chelsea are out to 13-2 to win the Premier League after their 0-0 draw at Goodison Park, and champions Manchester City are 33-1 following their 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa on Saturday.

Third-placed Arsenal are ranked as Liverpool’s closest rivals in the outright market at 7-2 after they hammered Crystal Palace 5-1 on Saturday, but the Gunners are six points back and have played a game more than the Reds.

Sunday’s other fixtures saw Bournemouth stun Manchester United with a 3-0 win at Old Trafford, while Wolves won their first game under new boss Vitor Pereira with a 3-0 victory at Leicester.

Fulham and Southampton also drew 0-0 on a day when none of the five home teams won.
