Leicester vs Arsenal predictions

Mikel Arteta is down to three fit forwards as Arsenal bid to ramp up the pressure on Premier League leaders Liverpool at Leicester on Saturday – but the Foxes' own lack of firepower should help the Gunners successfully step up to the challenge.

Kai Havertz is the latest member of Arsenal’s attack to enter the treatment room after the German international tore his hamstring during a training camp in Dubai.

He joins Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus on the sidelines, meaning Arteta will likely have to call upon Leandro Trossard, Raheem Sterling and promising teenager Ethan Nwaneri to lead the line at the King Power.

That's far from ideal as Arsenal bid to eat into Liverpool’s seven-point lead at the top, although the trio did start the Gunners' last Champions League outing, a 2-1 win at Girona in which 17-year-old Nwaneri netted the winner.

That should offer some hope to Gunners supporters and their side will certainly face tougher tests before the season is out than a trip to Leicester, who are third-bottom and have lost 15 of their 24 top-flight fixtures.

Arsenal may be short on numbers in attack but they are unbeaten in 14 Premier League matches and boast the division’s meanest defence, with only 22 league goals conceded this term.

The Gunners’ strong defensive foundations may be of even greater importance during the final months of the season given their attacking absentees, and they should be confident of keeping a shot-shy Foxes at bay.

Leicester have lost eight of their last nine league matches, failing to score in six of their defeats in that time, including each of their last four at home.

The last three visitors to the King Power – Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Fulham – have all won 2-0 and a similar outcome seems plausible against Arsenal, whose patched-up attack are unlikely to put the Foxes to the sword.

But the creative influence of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice from midfield should ensure that Arteta’s men still create plenty of opportunities against the division’s second-worst defence.

And if the going gets tough, Arsenal can at least rely on their excellence from set-pieces for a route to goal. Ten of their 49 league goals this season have come from dead-ball situations.

Five of Arsenal’s last nine league wins have featured no more than three goals and the Gunners may need to dig deep and show their character rather than put on an attacking masterclass in the East Midlands.

Leicester vs Arsenal bet builder predictions

Martin Odegaard to have one or more shots on target
The Norwegian will be more vital than ever given Arsenal's injury list and may feel at some point that he has to take matters into his own hands.

Over 6.5 Arsenal corners
The Gunners remain a real threat from set-pieces, something they may target, while a lack of convincing forward options could see them frustrated for large periods.

Boubakary Soumare to be shown a card
Leicester will spend a lot of time out of possession and that could mean that the French midfielder adds to his haul of eight yellow cards in 17 league games.
