Match preview

Leicester's FA Cup success was a massive moment in their history but they are outside the Premier League's top four for the first time this season and efforts to get back there could be scuppered by Tottenham, who look overpriced for victory at the King Power Stadium.

Given the choice of watching their team win the FA Cup or finish fourth, most Leicester fans would choose the first option.

However, there was no disguising the significance of Tuesday's 2-1 loss at Chelsea, which could have ramifications beyond this season.

Foxes' manager Brendan Rodgers has been linked with other clubs, including Tottenham, and would be far more likely to stay if there is Champions League football to look forward to.

And the same could be said of key midfielder Youri Tielemans, who has two years left on his contract.

Missing out on the top four is already being felt by Tottenham, who are having to deal with daily questions over the future of Harry Kane.

News of Kane's desire to leave the club broke at the start of the week and might have had an impact on the Londoners' 2-1 loss at home to Aston Villa on Wednesday, which left them struggling to secure any form of European football.

Three points against Leicester would secure the minimum of a berth in the inaugural Europa Conference League but, perhaps more importantly for their supporters, it would keep them above rivals Arsenal, who are one point worse off.

That Tottenham are in such a difficult situation is remarkable bearing in mind they topped the Premier League in December.

Results have been inconsistent in the last few months but there is a lot of individual quality in the team and the attacking quartet of Dele Alli, Gareth Bale, Kane and Son Heung-Min might come up with enough moments of brilliance to put Leicester to the sword.

Leicester have been at their best when counter-attacking teams and it is no coincidence that they have gained 38 points away from home compared to 28 at home.

Jonny Evans has been a steadying presence at the back but he missed the midweek loss at Chelsea with a muscle strain and his ongoing absence makes Leicester's task that little bit tougher.

The other obstacle could be events elsewhere.

Leicester's crowd will give them plenty of support but the noise levels may depend on how top-four rivals Chelsea and Liverpool are getting on in their games against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

Having to rely on other results is not the position Leicester wanted to be in and it may contribute to an unsettled performance, allowing Spurs to pick up an eighth away win of the season.

Key stat

Leicester have not kept a clean sheet in their last five league games
